"\Suspensions\ is inspired by how I experience time on the dancefloor. A space where the drums, rhythms and relationships between each song creates an illusion of time being suspended. I’ve been there many times, and it gives me space to experience instead of focus on what is around me, how I present or how to participate. Just as time tricks the ears, this mix pays homage to the 303s, 808s and drums inspiring me to engage with the dancer behind the booth. I especially enjoy how this mix takes its time, letting the previous track melt into the next and create something new. Something I always enjoy doing in live settings. In between the play with drums &  rhythm is a salute to the evolving landscape of dance music among people of color. I am really pleased to present this bit of how it all sounds to me."

There is time to admire the beauty in all things, a theme that NY-based DJ, Niyah West, aims to explore in her practice. Raised on the soulful roots of house music in central Jersey, Niyah has always made an effort to create likeness in her blends. This has given her much ability to showcase the many styles of music that inspire her to connect with people on the dancefloor. House is home, but you may find her going through rhythmic trips between spirited acid synths, techno and back to home base where it all truly began. She has shared this in spaces both in the US and across the pond in the EU & UK.
