Into the Infinity, the second of the four that I wrote and the first song on the EP; is about letting go in a lot of cheesy ways, and the cheese is heavily emphasized with the consistent use of metaphors. It was also upon finishing this song that I realized it and the last track were brackets of an EP and I’d then have to find the songs that filled the space in between them.

Into The Infinity

Track two, The Other Side, is one that gave me a lot of trouble at the beginning, I had a riff, then I had a few lines and eventually a chorus, all of which I spent a really long time deliberating with myself about what the main threads will be, what types of imagery and what themes am I going to use to drive this home. I ended up with a song that is in a way two different songs that couldn’t live on their own. It wasn’t until much later I would add the small moments between each verse, the melody and words just came to me and I decided they needed to be there.

The Other Side

My’ Cryin’ Heart, the third track, was one that I tried to have as much fun with as possible. I kept it really simple and tried to make the words goofy and sincere at the same time. It was a goal of mine to have this track really find the psychedelic core within the EP, a bit of an odd pairing with the more honky tonk that is the rest of the song. Tristan Ross absolutely killed the lead guitar on this track, as well as the rest of the EP, but it is especially worth mentioning here.

My Cryin' Heart

Come with Me ends the EP, which seems fitting because it was the first song I had written of the four. When writing it, it was hard to hear it as anything but a finished product, so it was probably the most frustrating to complete, as I had too much already decided, not all of which I originally had the technical know-how of doing. This song was always an ending, it had no other place among the rest of the songs. It is also probably my favorite track of the four.
