The doggedly prolific and eclectic Phil Julian opens up a brand new deck of cards on the sublimely crunchy and elastic 'Clastics'.

Austerely described as 'five sets of interrelated pattern based / sequencer derived recordings', Clastics lays down a gauntlet of straitjacket electronics, fizzing and crackling into and out of life. Mutated patterns evolve and decay without a care in the world.

We are very pleased to present the debut album of Stockholm's Daniel M Karlsson, 'Expanding and overwriting'. 

Encompassing themes of transhumanism, capitalism, electronic music history and police brutality, 'Expanding and overwriting' is a work of intense focus and attention to detail, while retaining a sense of playful wonder in its many gleaming surfaces. Moving from processed acid workouts to topologically longform FM synthesis suites, Daniel M Karlsson's inherent curiosity and individuality make for a unique, sublime listen. 

Created with live coding software TidalCycles, along with processing both during recording and after, jittering rhythms boom and collide in an uncanny space, as if propelled through a viscous cloud. Monolithic tones fold in on themselves and reassemble. A new music for a new world.

Disrupt/Construct is a long-form music release featuring two compositions: Disrupt and Construct. Disrupt/Construct is a composed effort between Ricky Graham (Signals Under Tests) and Hellmut Neidhardt (N). Graham collected musical responses to a series of his own guitar improvisations from Neidhardt over the period of a year. Graham then crafted this album at the Elektronmusikstudion EMS in Stockholm, Sweden. Disrupt is a series of buckling themes that function as self-contained, shorter musical compositions. Construct presents a semi-improvised stream-of-consciousness piece that stands in contrast to the disruptive nature of its counterpart and divides into three self-contained musical movements.

In response to the huge shift in the arts due to COVID-19, collabs is meant to be a quick-paced creative outlet to acknowledge the current
moment and connect with fellow musicians/noise makers near and far.

For collabs, we asked instrumentalists, poets & sound designers to make mini- recordings, capturing the sounds of their new daily.

After selecting samples from the submissions, these seven music creators combined and transformed the recordings to create original works.

Richard Graham, Ph.D., is a musician, technologist, educator, and entrepreneur. His academic and practical pursuits encompass computer-assisted music composition and instrumental performance.

Graham pioneered a live performance system for multichannel guitar at STEIM while completing his Ph.D. at Ulster University. He later served as an Assistant Professor of Music and Technology at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. His scholarly articles on performance systems design and electroacoustic theory have appeared in prestigious journals and conference proceedings including NIME, EMS, ISSTA, and publications by MIT Press.

His musical portfolio includes the album “Nascent,” with compositions featured at national and international festivals like NYCEMF, ICMC, and SEAMUS. In 2017, as an artist-in-residence at EMS, he produced “Disrupt/Construct” in collaboration with Hellmut Neidhardt, released by Denovali Records. His recent self-published album “Land Of Youth” contains tracks penned during the pandemic.

Graham’s academic research has been showcased at Bauhaus-Universität, Nokia Bell Labs, and MIT, covering topics including spatial audio in augmented reality, and live performance systems design, to sonification. He has presented at conferences like TIES, AES AVAR, and KEAMSAC, and lectured at institutions including SARC at Queen’s University and MMT at Trinity College.

In 2017, he co-founded Delta Sound Labs, an audio technology venture that has developed and marketed innovative products globally. The company has appeared at major industry events such as Musikmesse, Superbooth, Ableton’s Loop Festival, Moogfest, CES, and NAMM.

Currently based in Washington, D.C., Graham works under the alias, “Signals Under Tests,” and collaborates with Edwin Park on developing music production software.
