Sound of determination

Encendido (light [switched] on) was conceived as something for the hipsters to bump to. It appeared on Los Dejados en Base in the early post-recession climb, as two minutes of jazzy trippiness. Too brief to help anyone showcase their moves, it was more a jarring left for DJs who can't stick to a song for more than twenty seconds (because it probably changes up enough to warrant being a sample of a sample). Just keys and decks on this one, and a little plunderphonics...

Back in 1984, a musician and producer named John "Jellybean" Benitez and Madonna joined forces to make "Sidewalk Talk," a minor hit stateside. It was a bit of a breakthrough, and cemented his foothold as a premier soundsmith among the pop scene at the time. That song is sampled here, and I hope doesn't piss anyone off.
