When a country’s electronic music scene punches as heavily as Canada’s, there is always a weight of expectation on artists emerging from its ranks. Fortunately, Justin James’ talent, energy and ambition have allowed him to climb the heights of his illustrious countrymen. Justin hails from Windsor, Ontario the same city as his label boss and techno icon Richie Hawtin. With Richie, Dubfire and many others as close, guiding influences, James has used this ammunition to fire his way to international recognition.

Being just across the river from the revered school of Detroit producers has not left James unmoved. The powerful emotions deep within the seminal tracks that emanate from across the border resound heavily in him. Being touched by this rich history has deeply influence James’ music production, sharing his own vision of techno with other like-minded souls. A slew of creativity is already available, through releases quickly signed to powerhouse international labels such as Richie Hawtin’s ‘Minus’ and Dubfire’s ‘Sci+Tec.’ James has not rested on his laurels, instead he has taken his vision to the next level by curating his own imprint “refused.” a record label which will showcase forward thinking techno from himself, established artists and up-and-coming talent from around the globe.

Justin James is all about his deep love of the diverse elements of techno. His juxtaposition of raw techno with more organic elements, gives him boundless energy in the studio and behind the decks, which keeps the dance-floor militia on their toes. Cohesively developing a unique style that rolls all elements of techno into one highly kinetic experience, James has the ability to pool his influences, and endlessly move crowds to the far reaches of the genre.

With a list of achievements that already overshadow many artists, it’s clear that Justin James has proven how combining genuine talent, with dedication can go a long way. While his productions and performances continue to open the ears of thousands of people across the planet, the reality is, James has a host of future projects up his sleeve, which reveals the best is still to come.

Raised on the South Side of Chicago, Vic rose to public awareness as a member of the eclectic hip-hop band Kids These Days and founder of the Chicago collective SAVEMONEY alongside Chance The Rapper and other local upstarts Joey Purp and Peter CottonTale. His solo debut mixtape INNANETAPE dropped in 2013, igniting immediate accolades (including a spot on the XXL Freshman cover in 2014), and a fortuitous introduction to Jay Z that led to a record deal with Roc Nation. Mensa went on to help Kanye West pen his esoteric song “Wolves” from The Life of Pablo, drop three critically acclaimed EPs (2016’s There’s A Lot Going On, 2018’s Hooligans, and 2020’s V TAPE) and his debut full length The Autobiography (2017), as well as furthering social causes in his hometown through his nonprofit SAVEMONEYSAVELIFE. In both music and his social activism, Vic challenges the American system responsible for a history of overcriminalization, racial injustice, and issues that affect the lives of people in underserved communities, while showcasing profound levels of consciousness and self-reflection.

From opening for Kayne West in Singapore to being hand picked to perform for the Queen; from headlining the opening ceremonies at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics to being the main act for Canada Day celebrations in London, England, Jully Black has perfected her explosive live performance that showcases her unique and powerful voice as well as her ability to engage audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Jully consistently and effortlessly exceeds expectation, leaving fans inspired, entertained and awe-struck by her commanding yet endearing presence and the ability to create a personal connection with those who witness her in her most favored element – on stage. She has brought tens of thousands of people to their feet in venues around the world and has received extraordinary reviews from critics and fans alike. A force to be reckoned with, this Canadian-born, triple-threat (singer/songwriter/performer) loves to share her talents and has an enthusiasm for music that is unparalleled. Her charming attitude and charismatic personality has helped propel her career and reach milestones that most artists struggle to achieve in a lifetime – winning multiple Juno awards, penning songs for the likes of Missy Elliot, Nas and Destiny’s Child as well as performing alongside artists such as Jay-Z, Sean Paul, Kardinal Offishall and Alicia Keys. There is no question as to how she has achieved the status of “Canada’s Queen of R&B”, a title given to her by her fans and peers.

Her new, soon to be released album, entitled (8)IGHT, boasts a fresh, energetic and soulful sound, something that has been described as “the future of soul”. Traditionally, Jully is from the school of R&B, with influences like Lauren Hill & Tina Turner, she has combined these sounds with the super futuristic beats and rhythms provided by the album’s sole producer YoungPete Alexander and the funky creative writing and arrangement skills of Luther Brown. These 3 individuals, collectively known as ‘The Officials’, have been able to create a body of music containing messages everyone can relate to and music anyone can move to.
