In the year of 1869
A young lad set sail on the vessel Mary
Signed on as a cabin boy
He sought a way to escape

But he craved the open sea
Longing for hope

Seasickness and madness claimed the boy's smile
Weeks later
Past the equator
Life grew a bit more bearable
Yet a strange fever lingered
Stealing his vigor

The captain said one day. We’re going to enter the port of Cabinda
Pull yourself together and write a letter home. Hopefully they’ve got stamps in this shanty town. Boy write a letter!
He manage to buy a stamp and penned a letter 
Four mounts later his mother read and cried of joy
My boy is alive
But by that time he was already gone
They buried him at sea near the cape of good hope
