When I read this morning's theme "Enlightenment is Intimacy" I instantly went to my video footage and pictures taken in Cadiz, Spain. Cadiz is a thoroughly enlightened and intimate place. It's as if the Gaditano's of Cadiz know that they should revere all people and all animals (including Yorkies), and that intimacy comes thru so easily by a simple stroll down the beach. I wanted to share with people who I love that enlightenment is embracing all strangers as if they are your friends, and this is how I have lived my life always. My dad taught me such reverence for all beings and I wanted to share it with you. I hope you find more intimate enlightenment this week as a result of these ponderings. Happy Sunday Morning Tao! HELLO LIGHT BEINGS. Gorgeous November Seattle Sunshine to you!   Time for another Sunday Morning Tao! This week I am inspired by attending my very first Hockey Game to see the Vancouver Canucks.  While I had 'enough money' my whole life, I never made time to do this.  I felt lacking somehow.  My lovely friend Tari came with and made my trip.  We happened upon a magical fall RED LEAF paradise place and I remember feeling 'how abundant I am to have such a dear friend and be sharing this wonderful moment."  It was a feeling have having 'more than enough'.  This week's Tao says "only those who know when enough is enough can ever have enough."  Enjoy!

When All Else Fails

We turn to the way of Tao
when other approaches fail.
If we had turned to this Way earlier
we would have suffered less,
but we keep trying to make things work.
Silence and gentle acceptance
do not appeal to our conditioned mind,
so we stick with noise
and empty promises,
which finally wear us out.
When we are worn out,
we turn to the Tao
and find a peace within all the changes
and an inexhaustible energy for our work.
Our whole lives our conditioned mind has worked to push us through our days. It insists that if we just tried harder, we could make life what we want it to be.  It demands more effort to control both what happens and how we feel about what happens.  In the midst of caring for someone in a health crisis, this pressure can feel unrelenting.

If we are fortunate, the time comes when our conditioned mind pushes us off an internal cliff.  In utter despair, we give up trying to do the impossible.  There may be sobbing and grief as we let go, but we fall into the grace of our true nature.  The Way of the Tao opens up before us.  It invites us to trust what runs deep within.  Life will unfold in, around and through us.  It is not up to us to make things happen.

This is not helplessly giving up.  It is stepping with courage into the reality of life.  Within the flow of the Tao  we find new confidence, peace, and joy.  We are ready to sit still and wait to see where the journey will lead us.

The truth is that the love that pervades the universe is of-itself-so. Nothing must happen first before you can receive it.  Nothing must happen before you can receive the abundance of the universe.

We limit our capacity to receive by holding limiting beliefs about how the abundance of the universe must come to us.  For example, if we believe that money can only come to us through employment income, we might miss opportunities for making money that are right in front of us.  If we believe that all our needs must be met by our mates, we limit ourselves from seeking or recognizing other opportuniteis to express and grow.  The Eternal Tao is everywhere, and its natural abundance may come to us in an infinite variety of forms, if we are open to receiving them.
