Saw Donovan in concert in The Pavilion Theatre, Glasgow not so long ago, It was an anniversary concert, and he said that this was the first big place that he performed in, and it was like coming home. He sat crossed legged on a little rug on the floor, despite his old bones and charmed us with his music and storytelling. It was a very vibrant Glaswegian audience, a lot of them probably personal friends of old and family, so a great deal of heckling and laughter, which he took in his stride, and I'm sure he very much enjoyed the huge love and  warmth that filled the theatre that night!
Love his music, and difficult to choose only one, but this was a favourite of a dear old friend.

The Assignment: Play over a song, and then remove the original.

Step 1: The point of this project is to cover a song in the literal sense of the word. To “cover” a song usually means to play your own version of it. Here, you will blanket the original: you will play atop a song you like, and then remove the original so only your accompaniment is heard. The original will not be recognizable in what remains. First, choose the song you want to blanket.

Step 2: Record yourself playing along with the song you selected in Step 1.

Step 3: Remove the song from Step 1 so that only the original recording from Step 2 remains.

Step 4: You needn’t identify the song from Step 1 when posting your track, but certainly feel free to do so.

They form sentences with no meaning, flowing softly like water he can feel, a forgetful stream whose ripples mingle and undefine, becoming other, still other ripples, and still again other. Thus ideas and images, throbbing with expressiveness, pass through him in resounding processions of pale silks on which imagination shimmers like moonlight, dappled with indefinite.
