Blokc - In Transit (Van Did Remix) [SC edit]

Betoko & Paul Sawyer return to ICONYC with the remix edition of ''I'll Be Here' which also featured heavily as the title song of the first ICONYC TV season. The duo's last outings on the label were received to high acclaim – with big support from the big player's brigade at the time. With their long-awaited return we get a slice of spring vibes with 4 outstanding reworks of their classic anthem. Betoko kicks things off nicely with his interpretation, the melancholic moodiness of his rework shines through as we meander effortlessly through 80's inspired melodies, while the sultry chords and vocal sit wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth. 

The first remix comes courtesy of Blaktone, famed for their intricate and refined productions on labels such as Selador, Sincopat and Mango Alley to name a few. The duo delivers a great take on 'I'll be Here'. Their rework creates tension from the word go, as the atmospheric vibe subtly keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth techno edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a deep glow, creating an air of sophistication. 

Next up we welcome Berlin based Tony Casanova for his debut on the label. Tony who is known for his polished and driven sound, keeps the ethereal theme of the original alive, as the pulsating bass powers along, before its drum fills and general warmth all combine to do the talking. Like something from yesteryear, yet sounding fresh – Tony's touch up takes the energy levels up a notch, but increases the melancholy with stripped back and lucid elements at the same time, before the luscious pads grace the rework changing the vibe and creating a blanket of warmth that wraps around the effected groove. 

Last but not least we have a remix courtesy of MXV who returns to the label for the second time. The UK based producer delivers a wonderful floating deep mix with infectious chords, intense drums and smooth breakdown. It's all about the groove, silky house vibes and the despondent beats that are working their magic around MXV's wonderfully arranged keys that create an irresistible rhythm while clever chords take the mind on a trip. A truly beautiful cultivated rework. 

The remix edition of Betoko & Paul Sawyer's 'I'll Be Here' manages to deliver a message of sustained musical relevance in emphatic fashion to warm the soul. Not to be missed! 'I'll Be Here' sees a worldwide release on April 27th, 2020 via all well-known digital content providers. Not to be missed!

Blaktone delivers his latest captivating EP "Afrika." The two-track Afro-Melodic House & Techno EP will mesmerize listeners with its melodies, basslines, and groovy percussion. The first track, named after the EP, "Afrika" is a dance-floor certified tool that is guided by an energy-infused arp. At the press of play, the listener is introduced tot he main beat with the powerful bassline. Slowly, the arp lead is introduced which resonates throughout the entirety of the track. The main breakdown offers atmospheric vocal chants with an uplifting progression as the arp lead echoes in the background. The second drop of "Afrika" offers a two-fold amount of energy from that of the first section of the track. The second track, "Who Are You Mr. Benson" delivers a more laidback, summer-like production. Taking on a more tech-house side, the track offers a dark bassline and one-shots while a quirky arp drives the production. Tying all the elements of the track together is the mysterious-like vocal sample. Undoubtedly, Blaktone delivers an EP that will work with and infuse energy into any dancefloor.
