The unknown DJ Tiësto was invited for the radioshow called Planet E on Stadsradio Rotterdam in The Netherlands to promote his compilation Lost Treasures. Forbidden Paradise 6 was just released, so this makes this the oldest surfaced live broadcast by DJ Tiësto. Dated in 1996.

Funfact that Michel de Hey forgot the DJ name of Tijs Verwest and asked for this in the interview.

Tiësto did about 3 DJ mixes for the radioshow K-Net around 1996 & 1997. At the time he worked at the recordstore of Ronald Molendijk and did some compilations like Forbidden Paradise and Lost Treasures. 

Together with Greg Storm he released some vinyl under the alias West & Storm. 

The station Veronica broadcasted the radio mixshow K-Net (Rave Radio). They didn't mention his DJ name and Tijs Verwest was a bit upset about this. This time DJ Rob Stenders took the honour to introduce him for the first time on dutch national radio.

Work, read books, play with your kids, draw, think, write, play music, dance in your living room, sing, listen to music, phone old friends, do nothing but.. stay at home - it has never been easier to save lives.

It's a very peculiar time and place to be a part of. Maybe it means something. Maybe not, in the long run… but no explanation, no mix of words or music or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that time of the world. Whatever it means..

There is a fantastic universal sense that whatever we are doing is right, that we are winning.

And that, I think, is the handle—that sense of inevitable victory over the invisible forces. Not in any mean or military sense; we don't need that. Our energy will simply prevail. We have all the momentum.

Why Walken? I don’t think that I picked him. It just kind of happened. He’s somebody that I’ve always been — I don’t know if fascinated is the right word, or related to in some respects, he’s great. Walken is a great actor. He’s an unbelievable character. 

When this whole thing was birthed, the catalyst was stumbling upon Budakid's "Walkman", as featured on the previous mixtape "Take #6 - Ego-Fear & Loathing Worldwide".

Hej! Multiple takes of new & almost new music I enjoy at the moment. Comment if you like what you hear.

For the past two decades Rígur Lárus, formerly known as Rui, has been exploring and finding the essence behind various straightforward genres. From Trance to Techno and everything in between. Always in search for that specific trance feeling and storytelling in music.

Growing up as the youngest of four siblings, he acquired a matured music taste rather quickly and this propelled him into the late 90’s trance scene. Highly inspired by the Magik Mix Series he started mixing with vinyl. The storytelling in this mix series, to this day, is unheard of and still the foundation & inspiration for the music Rígur Lárus selects for his mixtapes today.

Timeless and ever effective melodies, found in various styles, is what distinguishes his mixtapes. Making them a crossover blend of various styles from older & new Progressive, Deep House to Melodic Techno. Discovered in different places and with that specific trance feel and emanating old sounds that marked him as a teenager. 

At one point Rígur Lárus took a three year hiatus to start selling vinyl as Troost Records, for the love of vinyl. Sending various House genres all over the world. Making people happy with the older sounds, because people really need to know where it all started, as part of music education.

The start of ‘17 he reignited his passion for making mixtapes for smaller audiences on Soundcloud. Aptly titled Make Mixtakes, always striving for the perfect blend with some raw edgy mixing. Rígur Lárus could never leave the unanswered feeling of passion for melodic music in the past. Therefore making him determined to be heard today with his unique quirky sound. An acquired taste.
