Flutters

I used to dream of owning an old lady rocking chair, like the one I have now.
The warm wood, dark and smooth, is calm and rhythmic - a heartbeat of sorts.
The sound it makes as it rocks is the sound of my bones.

The chair would be porch-perched upon the slats of my lovely front door area.
Squeaky pine stairs leading up (and down) - the bottom one loose and almost obscured by lacy green weeds; wild flowers, if you prefer.

I used to dream of owning an old lady rocking chair, like the one I have now.
The sound it makes as it rocks is the sound of my bones.

Prolific Cosmos tower and gently sway in pastel dances with faces towards the sun.
They bow almost low enough to kiss Gladiolas and Hydrangeas on the lips.

Invisible insects tumble over bumpy ground beneath Violets, Bachelor Buttons, and Sweet, Sweet Williams.

Struggling Red Clover peek upward desperately, longing for light.

The Prayers of Eun Geal

Written in November, 2021 for Psychopalooza 7. This song was part of my original #12of21 (but turned out to be #10of21) and last original song written that year.
Psychopalooza is a contest that Psychonaudia puts on every so often to encourage the musical growth of fellow musicians. For no.7, you were supplied with lyrics and vocals and you had to provide the rest of the song. I found it extremely fun and loved ending the year on this note. (oops, pun.....)

There lived a man in wanderlust
in legend with those eyes that yearned afar
He ran through fields of grass
He raced beneath the stars.
He walked in fate of which he dreamed
he wandered on the grounds of ancient troves
He sought the teary skies
He found the mourning groves.

Remember the joy, and carry her on,

He met a maiden on the road
She knew the wend and ways of outer realms
By happenstance they journeyed on 
They walked through the elms
In nature’s pools, blue light entwined
with sphagnum moss that sparkles green at dawn
They swam the shoals together 
They chased the forest fawn.

"The Fall of Kommanda" was written for The Graveyard Tapes on a bonus episode Reeza's Armory: Militia, Go!
Depicted is Reeza's mentor, Kommanda, making a last courageous stand, allowing Reeza to escape and carry the Fuzzy Militia in her heart to be rebuilt another day.

My kid Simon and I wrote this song 2 years ago for my dear brother who was planning on asking his lady to marry him. I wasn't able to record it in time for their wedding, but here it is now.
Congratulations forever, Caitlin and Dustin. I love you both and I wish you all the happiness in the world.

When I See Her

It begins simply.
One request for water.
Six more follow.
Making a line;
ultimate difficulty.
Pushing and shoving
mixed with whines.
A cup drops,
a puddle formed.
One foot in the water,
one slips to the floor.
Two laughing,
three fighting,
one sneaking to the front,
two notice and stop.
Accusations fly.
One crying,
one drinking,
water everywhere.
One request for the toilet.
Three more follow.
New line.
Simple enough.

My Life in the Circus

My Life In The Circus

Come walk with me along the trail up Jack Creek to the headwaters.
The water murmurs gently as we travel deeper into the woods and the foliage grows greener with each step.
As we approach the beginning, the creek springs to life from beneath a tangle of tree roots.
It is clear and cool and tranquil.
One could sit in the midst of the headwaters for hours just listening to the whispers of the waters.
