Ramon Tapia was born and raised in Holland, with a Dutch mother and Chilean
father – his upbringing had an eclectic mix of cultures which in turn developed
and influenced his decision to become a musician.
Ramon likes to raise his bar and his sound evolves constantly with a new
inspiring sound. In 2024 he entered into the Raw Techno Top 10 charts with a
bang, with his “Silent Assassin” Ep on Planet Rhythm ” and “Circular” on
Christian Smith’s Tronic Music and of course with releases on his very own “Say
What?”like for instance his track “Shadow Master”. Expect collaborations and
remixes for Kmyle, , Ecilo , Pan-Pot , Hertz and much more.
His skills aren’t limited to producing. He is also a highly skilled DJ, performing for
crowds all around the world. He has a special way of connecting with the
audience and taking them on an intense musical journey with his rolling /up
tempo, raw sound. So far you might have danced with him on festivals like
Tomorrowland, Caprices festival, 909 Festival, May Day, Loveland and the list
goes on.
With an impressive collection of releases on some of the biggest labels, Ramon
decided to start his very own imprint - Say What? Records in 2012. The label
delivers a proper dancefloor-ready Techno from respected names and new kids
pulling the wagon for the new generation under his supervision.
It all started when he gradually learned how to produce tracks solo, with a
foundation in pounding techno and hardcore scene which resulted in several
releases and remixes , while going to school to become a gold smith he had a job
in Antwerp’s famous record store “USA import” where he sculpted a broad taste
in music and his production skills along the way.
He found his resurgence in the 00’s, forging a new school techno sound with his
release ‘Land Of Drum’ on Pocket the sublabel of Music Man, a release on Gayle
San’s label Equator and more house styled tracks on New York’s legendary
Strictly Rhythm label. That's where his name catapulted into the limelight,
becoming the biggest turning point for his career, resulting in a residency at
Sankey’s Ibiza for three years, multiple bookings around the globe, rapidly
growing loyal fan base and global recognition!

Relentless filth

"Give Me Your Love" is a joyful track that I've always loved, evoking a celebratory mood in the true spirit of disco even though it was released well after the primary disco movement of the late 1970s. Originally performed by the Italian group Fun Fun, this song is a quintessential piece of Italo disco—a genre that emerged in the early 80s, characterised by its electronic instrumentation and vibrant energy. I vividly recall sitting in front of a record player, captivated by the jubilant spirit of the vocals and the infectious rhythm, listening to it over and over again when it was originally released.
In reimagining "Give Me Your Love" for "The Afterlife," I sought to bridge the past and present, infusing the track with modern production techniques while honouring its roots. This song has taken longer to produce than any other on the album, reflecting the intricate process of capturing its essence and transforming it into something new.
The production journey for "Give Me Your Love" has been akin to navigating a creative maze, filled with unexpected turns and moments of inspiration. At times, it has felt like sculpting a gigantic piece of marble, requiring infinite patience and a willingness to delve into the details. Ultimately, "Give Me Your Love" is not just a song; it's a dialogue between the jubilant past of disco and the boundless possibilities of the present, inviting listeners to experience the freedom and joy that disco can bring.
