Lontano Series 
First extract from "I Could Go Lucid" Album by Bodyverse

‘I Could Go Lucid’ is about an instant of awareness in which I realise I could have the chance to create an astonishing reality, if only I could keep consciousness while dreaming, for more than an ephemeral moment. Lucid dreams mean to me a chance to create perfection as I feel they release the power of imagination in its whole potential. Imagination becomes matter to interact with. 
It’s the brain’s virtual reality, the off limits oneiric one. As well as in dreams, also in the musical creative process I perceive a certain amount of surreal content, and it too links with imagination and with the act of materialising ideas. For this reason I am currently experimenting through improvisation, in a journey between surrealism, expressionism and situationist drift. I try to let ideas flow, so my will subordinates to accidents and emotions. I become an explorer or a traveller with an uncertain destination. This atmosphere has resulted in a creation of six pieces in which the priority is simply to keep the integrity of the original "idea" itself. 
Nothing has been planned, cut nor post-produced.

Oberlin and Handstitched* meet again for another stunning release. After the first release "Lent" was released in early 2019, Oberlin is back with "Übersee" - a full-length odyssey, balancing smack-dab on the edge of darkness and shimmering clarity.

"Übersee" is an old german term for the lands across the sea - an imagined journey to unfrequented places, the title existed months before the recent travel-restrictions, nevertheless it still resonates in the nostalgic term somehow, too.

"Übersee" comes in a limited-edition gatefold book cover with unique mini collages created by Handstitched* and Spirograph artworks in four individual designs by Carolyn Sleith, 35mm film negatives are applied to the insert strip with hand-stamped CD's and each edition comes hand-numbered.

All music written and recorded by Oberlin with a Eurorack Modular system and electric guitar in 2018 at Oberlin's Studio 4 in Koblenz, Germany.

Oberlin - Übersee [S4mpl3r]

Pie Are Squared is Italy-based Egyptian musician Mohammed Ashraf. He has previously released music through labels such as Handstitched*, Lost Children and on Eilean Records as Śruti, his collaboration with Omar El Abd. Some of you may also recall this year's 'muri', which was the 13th addition to our Home Diaries Series.

'Con Calma' is a serene album for quiet contemplation, as minimalist tones glide and encourage a sense of detachment. It began as Mohammed gathered recordings on his mobile phone whilst travelling, which were later fed through various chains of effects. Guitars and a range of utilities were used to craft these lulling tones, with the wealth of source and detail somehow liquefying into a collection of daydreams. 

These reveries were assembled from lengthy loop sessions, which Mohammed listened to for almost a year to help him detach from the mundane office routine. He wanted this work to be a form of escapism, yet free from anxiety; a slow, calm exit.

Con Calma is not completely weightless and feather-lite; at times the light abrasion of distortion joins the wash, to add texture. The album is best enjoyed with the tracks played in sequence, as they envelope you into a sense of contemplation, starting from humble, quiet beginnings, journeying through air and rail in 'Flügezüge', onto more than a hint of stormy seas towards the second half, before closing with the daze of its final moments in 'Away, World, Away'.

The Light Of Setting Suns

This is a series of sketch-like works that arose out of the need for me to create an atmosphere when working in the studio. A loop would be made then I'd start the prep work for that session. The loop may even inspire the output and work created for that day.

The release is pay what you like and I'd appreciate if you took a moment to go over to Dewtone and check this out.

'Untitled Quiet Loop #2' - Quiet Loops - [Dewtone Recordings, 2020]

This is an excerpt from one of the four longform tracks on this album, all of which are distinct excursions into a personal landscape of organic and broken melodic meanderings…the slapping spokes of a bicycle ridden through the tall grass, the swish of the walking stick, the buzz of the fly on the manure and the mysteriously subtle drone like chattering and burbling of the deepest countryside. Plaintive…melancholic…beatific…this is the loveliest of soundtracks to a simple life well lived away from the maddening crowd, and without regret.
