BIOGRAPHY Rimolka

ARTIST OVERVIEW
Rimolka is an Afro House, Afro Tech & Deep House DJ whose
musical journey & culture have always been inspired by the likes
of James Brown and the East and West African cultures. He
prefers listening to soul, jazz and lounge when he’s just relaxed.
Rimolka fell in love with music at a very young age but only
started developing an interest to become a DJ at age 15. He
started playing professionally at age 16 with hip hop and R&B
being his main genres at the time. At 19 he was already growing
in music and had started seeing gaps within the djaying space
which saw his moving from hip hop & R&B to house as it was
very evident that house had become the fastest growing genre
within the entertainment space.

Like many other DJs, Rimolka started djaying on a computer using a
software called Automix but later transferred skill he learned from
the software to the CDJs. Upon understanding and mastering the
CDJs, he then decided that he needed to learn playing with vinyl
which he did and also mastered.
Born Eric Ellis Modibedi Malaka on 24th March 1981 in a small village called
Motswedi in Lehurutshe near Zeerust (North West Province),
Rimolka is currently based in Tembisa, Johannesburg.

Rimolka is a very consistent and disciplined DJ with his mixing skill allowing him to fuse afro tech with soulful/ deep/
minimal techno and progressice house music.
Having played in several clubs and festivals, Rimolka has shared stages with some of the industry greats such as Atjazz, Rocco, DJ Christos, Ralf Gum, Jullian Gomes and Vinny Da Vinci to name a few. He has also gotten invitations to play at radio stations such as: Metro FM, 947, Lekoa FM, Motsweding FM, UJ FM, VOW FM and SMU FM. Having released his debut single recently titled Let It Flow Feat. Zee The End, Rimolka feels there’s still more room for growth both as a DJ and a producer. He also has a series of mixes titled ‘City Jungle Shadows’ which can be on all his social media pages.
