The client gave me two different interviews of the same person; one is inside and one is outside. Naturally, the two interviews sound very different. My goal was to match the two interviews as much as possible. It would be nearly impossible to get the indoor one to sound like the outdoor one so I tried to get the outdoor one to sound like the indoor one. 

I first removed background noise from the outdoor one to get it as clean as possible. Then I added the AC background noise from the indoor one. Then I ran the outdoor voice through a reverb to match the indoor reverb. I exported that as a separate file. Then I attempted to restore that file just as I restored the indoor interview, by removing noise and reverb. This resulted in a pretty close match.

Repaired this indoor interview which had lots of noise from an air conditioner in the background because it was so hot in Benin, Africa! The room had lots of reverb. Reverb is the most difficult to remove so I just reduced it until it didn't start affecting the voice.

Repaired this indoor interview in which the interviewee had several bracelets which clanked as she moved her hands. I just reduced the sound enough so it wasn't annoying. Going further messed up the good audio (her voice), and didn't sound or look natural on video. On this one I also had to remove noise and reverberation.

Here's a recording of me snowboarding in Cataloochee, North Carolina. The slopes were nothing like Salt Lake City's slopes that I rode when I was in middle school, but it was nice coming back to this sport. To record this, I had a windscreen on my stereo handheld recorder. To reduce handling noise I placed the recorder in my glove just enough so the microphones were sticking out. I grabbed on to the glove & recorder tightly and faced it downward toward my bindings and board. So the mic is about 2 feet from the board.

Meditate on the gentle sounds of the waves crashing into the the prison-city's small sandy shore. UNESCO nominated the prison-city of Akka as a World Heritage Site. It's a historic place particularly for the imprisonment of Baha'u'llah, Founder of the Baha'i Faith, and His family.

Sets of outdoor speakers turned on. The Muslim Call to Prayer broke the hot and dry silence while we walked through the ancient prison-city of Akka.

The sound of these three small fountains soothed me during my break from walking up flights of hundreds of stairs toward the Shrine of the Báb (a Bahá'í shrine) in Haifa, Israel. The shrine is located on Mount Carmel. Bahá'ís visit this location, among others, as part of pilgrimage.

I found this rhythmic stream of water flowing down the stairs  quite soothing.

During my walk in the Gardens of Bahji, Israel, this flock of crows hovered over me in melodious unison. This garden surrounds what Bahá'ís consider the Holiest Spot on Earth: the Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh. This is the main site to visit during pilgrimage.

While visiting the European land where my wife partly grew up, I recorded sounds I encountered that sum up some of the experiences. We encountered nature's sounds while touring a noble garden. An Islamic-influenced minaret stuck out amid the gardens; its inner stairwell produced enchanting reverberation. Elegant horse carriages paraded the gardens. Back in the cities we constantly rode the public buses, trams and trains that produced all kinds of unique sounds.

This street vendor walks through the streets of a small town in Jamundi, Colombia to sell a fruity refreshing drink and a filling corn drink. My aunt and cousins heard his call so they stopped him and bought some drinks from him to share with the family.
