The inspiration for this song came from memories I have of watching an old movie as a boy called The Lost Horizon. The story of this song though, is somewhat different. The ruler of a land fights a battle, their side loses and they end up left for dead. Some pilgrims on a journey to a sacred paradise find them and carry them to the paradise known as Himinyala (from the Old Norse word Himinn). There they find paradise, but after a time, old desires for power and reclaiming their house and so leave, but vow to return after they set their affairs in order. But, in the end, cannot find their way back.

where the red rain fell,
I lay among
the dying shell.
Pilgrims came
through smoke and flame,
They bore me high,
they spoke my name.
