All guitar parts were transcribed to my violin. Bass parts were recorded on... a bass, while drum parts were programmed with Superior Drummer 2 except for one tambourine sample I yanked from the free sample libraries included with Kontakt Player.

Tried imitating Mick Gordon's "DOOM instrument" using just VSTs. It's pretty minimal - the real DOOM instrument used a lot more effects and a lot more parallel paths (16 effects, four parallel paths going by his GDC talk.) This one is 6 effects and two parallel paths. It still gets really crazy.
