This is my FL Studio cover, remake, recreation, whatever you want to call it, of Last Surprise from the Persona 5 OST.

Last Surprise is perhaps the most iconic track on the entire soundtrack, so I tried my best to take my time and not rush this one out like I tend to do lol.

The string parts were not only difficult to transcribe but they were even harder to produce properly. At first I was using 4 ensemble patches from Tokyo Scoring Strings for the sharp intro strings but it still felt lacking. I ultimately ended up using 3 disparate groups of strings to fill out the virtual orchestra: Tokyo Scoring Strings, Spitfire Solo Strings (playing harmonies), Spitfire Solo Strings (playing lower octaves). It all sounded like a horrible mess at first and for a while I was just smashing my face into the DAW to make it all fit. While I'm never gonna get close to sounding like the live Muroya Orchestra that recorded this track, I think where I've ended up is far from where I started, so I am happy with that.

For some other parts of the song, I took inspiration from the live performances of Last Surprise. On the official OST track for example, there is no clean guitar and the drums don't play hats during the choruses or have as many ghost hits throughout.

This is my 2025 orchestral cover/remake/recreation/whatever you want to call it of the Satsuki Kiryuin Theme (officially 'Kiryu G@ kiLL') from Kill la Kill.

All parts transcribed and produced by me.

I created this project from scratch, not using any of my previous work from my 2021 version of the song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16IDfBwN0lw). For a while, I've really wanted to redo this song. I worked slowly between December 2024 and July 2025, stopping, starting, and redoing my work a lot of times along the way. It's been a very slow process, but a rewarding one.

When fully loaded, this project eats up nearly 60GB of memory, over 100% CPU, and makes so many calls to my hard drives that it becomes unplayable. I had to split up the actual working parts into multiple projects for strings, brass, percussion, and guitar/bass/drums.

I started this project and only wrote the bass part about a year ago, then forgot about it entirely until I started working on some Haruhi stuff this June. I think it's fair to say this song doesn't initially stand out when you listen to it, but it's one that will worm its way into your head and won't leave. It will randomly start playing in your brain at random times, unbeckoned, uninvited, and make you remember weird things like "FORREEAAAAAALL?" and "Yeah, it's just a toy, it meows when you press on its head!"

The song doesn't feel "wicked" so much to me as "quirky" but I think the subversion in the title is intentional to make it more humorous anyway.

I started out working on a 1:1 recreation. Then I decided to just use whatever instruments I felt like, so it's more of a creative cover than a straight up remake, although it follows the same structure as the original in terms of chords and melodies. This is my cover/remake/recreation or whatever you want to call it of "Judgement Knights of Thunder" (ジャッジメント・ナイツ・オブ・サンダー ～伝説の勇者) (anime version) from The Disastrous Life of Saiki K OST. All parts transcribed and produced by me. Song originally composed by Psychic Lover.

This song literally makes me laugh out loud as soon as I hear "JUDGEMENT KNIGHTS OF..." Yet it goes hard; it's unironically a banger. The anime version is a shortened version of the full length song by the band Psychic Lover, which is worth listening to because the production on it is different and the instrumentation is more complex. There are more guitar parts, the bass doesn't just follow the guitar, and the lyrics actually tell a complete story rather than simply repeating "JUDGEMENT KNIGHTS OF THUNDER" a dozen times.

In my version, I added extra judgement, extra knights, and extra thunder to the lead guitar parts.

This is probably gonna get 50 views and then fall out of the algorithm... and if it does... it will BE THE WORK OF THE DARK REUNION.
