She is a co-founder of Skin&Blister, a collective that nurtures and encourages female identifying, trans and non-binary creatives in music and the arts. Following a string of excellent contributions to esteemed compilations under both the Eastern Distributor and Jörmungandr aliases, Daniel Jakobssson joined me for episode 204 of Passing Notes to celebrate the announcement of his forthcoming EP ‘State of Equilibrium’. ‘State of Equilibrium’ features the long-awaited (and very highly IDed!) track ‘Balance’, which finds itself nicely nestled between two equally progressive, bush-ready cuts and a signature Maara remix. Luring listeners to a dusty dance floor, the release presents bubbling, psychedelic tech and trance cuts that tether the line between functional, fun and something a little more serious. Having recently also waded to the darker side of the swamp, Daniel’s newly established ‘Jörmungandr’ alias explores the ever-evolving experimental and fast paced iterations of trance and techno. His expression of this sound is simultaneously sharp and deliciously viscous, gaining increasing attention from international favourites such as @ute-rec and @amniote-editions.

The fifth instalment in the fledgling X-Kalay mix series is delivered by Berlin based DJ, Zeynep. Here she contributes a heady blend of propulsive club centric sounds; seamlessly moving through contemporary styles of house, acid and trance.

For the concept of this mix I wanted to put together a selection of tracks inspired by some of my favourite moments on the dance floor this year. Those times when the night stretches into early morning, and the energy is electric, yet the atmosphere is mystical and dark.

For the mix I tried to focus on the stripped back low-end driven sides of trance and progressive music, hopefully capturing the energy and atmosphere of those memorable sections of club nights.

As the mix unfolds, there's a progression in energy to play on being drawn deeper into those nights where you can feel that building sense of liveliness and anticipation.

Unfortunately Dublin’s party scene is fairly limited because of the laws around opening hours which are hopefully changing soon, but I really like what @the_solace_space are doing as a party and a collective

Wasn’t a club experience but it would have to be @draaimolen this year, it was something very special to witness and I was riding a high after it for weeks

Needs to have a crispy and punchy sound system, then some trippy minimal lighting, an energetic crowd with lots of space and probably somewhere in nature like a forest or a mountain range

How friendly everyone is, I didn’t realise this until someone mentioned it to me recently, but after doing a bit of travelling and thinking about it Dublin does have a special way about it when it comes to the people. There’s warmness and friendliness you experience on a night out that’s hard to find anywhere else
