wav.world emerged out of a long-running chat exchange of mixes, tracks, and some playful speculation: If you were going to make a platform for DJ mixes in 2024, what would it look like?

Mixes are a unique type of musical expression. They capture a specific moment in time, determined by the knowledge and style of the artist. A mix is as important a creative statement as an album, remix or EP. One mix can change an artist’s career, one mix can open a listener’s mind to something completely new.

𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓯𝓪𝓿𝓸𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓮 𝓶𝓲𝔁𝓮𝓼 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓽𝓲𝓶𝓮𝓵𝓮𝓼𝓼.

We miss the importance that mixes used to have. So, we made a platform for mixes.

Each wav.world mix gives one artist the time and resources to create whatever kind of mix they want, to share something sonic about who they are and what they love.

Every wav.world mix will feature a longform interview with the artist which gets to the heart of what moves them—in music and in life—through text, video and image. Each edition of wav.world will feature the commissioned work of music journalists, visual artists and graphic artists.

Observatory 088 - Sungate [with Machine Woman & Moy Santana]

Off The Record returns with its semi-centennial mix from Dublin born, London residing guitarist, producer and DJ Glimmerman. 
Real name Ethan Begley Hughes, Glimmerman has found himself as a producer following two paths as of late. Firstly his three large sounding 2-step 12"s on Dublin's First Second Label as well being featured on EMA's powerhouse Woozy imprint compilations. Or secondly finding him taking centre stage as the lead guitarist in his most recent venture: post-rock band Better Living. Listening to his latest release "Temple Sublet" it definitely feels like these two crossroads meet somewhere in the middle (not to mention the excellent track featuring London wordsmith Old Brother). Aside from all of that Hughes has been known to be a solid pair of hands behind the ones and twos having this year alone taken to Berlin's Paloma as well as touching down in the usual London hotspots MOT, Avalon Cafe and Ormside projects. For this mix Glimmerman ventures into more techno inspired roots as well as letting rip with some guitar related influences while still showcasing his knowledge bassy and D&B sounds and of course all harmoniously mixed to perfection.

A new Portland party series and record label inspired by the Spanish word, perfectly encapsulates the liminal space that we all love 🌀

Our first foray into the madrugada kicks off in a freaky warehouse space, and features a dj who exemplifies what I want madrugada to represent: the midwest raised, Portland based DJ Screendoor (@djscreendoor).

Simply put, Screendoor is one of the greatest diggers I’ve ever met, and has a record collection that’ll send most djs into a fit of convulsions. He’s a new music obsessive, and in my opinion, a world class dj and one of the very best in the PNW.

Expect excellent sound, vibe, and most importantly, music. One dj, all vinyl, all night long!
