✨🤲✨ Here’s a set recording at one of the last of a festival-filled summer: @sustain-release-nyc

No set theme/mood, just a journey thru a bunch of tunes I really do love and hoped people would enjoy; but to quote my girl @livwutang, it was rooted in a love for Black music (this mix cover was taken by her during the set <3). Stitching together threads of dubstep, jazz, house, breaks, garage, hip hop, dub, etc.

At some points this kinda feels more like a beat tape with selector style mixing + no long blends. A lil fusion of tired/nervous/letting the tunes shine

Thank you @itsallhalal + the rest of the team for the opportunity to close The Gym on Fri night and for looking after me. And ofc out to the amazingly welcoming dancers inside ❤️

"She Never Saw It Coming," a piece designed to create a visceral musical portrayal of a sudden, devastating emotional collapse and the shock of shifting reality and that these situations happen in real life.

The track is defined by its dramatic fusion of two contrasting worlds: a violent modern hip-hop beat provides the core rhythm and sets the mood, one of which is set against the dramatic weight of an orchestra. The emotional narrative of panic and disbelief is carried by a soaring, high-pitched orchestral cello melody. This chaos is thickened by intense sound design, including jarring Fox Impact effects and specialized, swirling Alchemy pads (Dark Arrangement FX Swirls and Constellation Map Alchemy) that build a dense, unexpected atmosphere. This tension is broken midway through the song when a grounded, accompanying piano melody enters, symbolizing the moment the subject realizes the harsh truth and enters the "the day the floor gave way".

She was busy checking texts, fixing her designer threads, While the entire backdrop faded, and the future lost its head. I watched the credits rolling, saw the movie ending early, But she was glued to the subplot, acting kinda curly. Had the whole world whispering, dropping names, spilling tea, But she just hit the snooze button on reality. Focused on the small stuff, missed the billboard in the sky, Didn't catch the plot twist, didn't even wonder why. I was sitting front row, watching the collapse unfold, She missed the memo, that story's getting old.

She never saw it coming, the day the floor gave way, A slow burn she ignored, now it's hitting her today. It wasn't subtle, wasn't whispered, wasn't in the fog, It was a ten-car pile-up with her name on the log. She thought she had the compass, but she lost the whole map, That was a straight-up punchline, hit her face without the cap. She never saw it coming she was never looking at all. Too busy standing tall to notice she was 'bout to fall.

She played the victim perfectly, shocked by the audacity, "How could this happen to me?" — It’s called sheer capacity For denial, sweetie. Every sign was flashing neon, The foundation was dissolving, she was standing on styrofoam. I ain't a psychic, I'm just reading the fine print, you dig? Every move was a tell, every lie was getting big. She tried to keep the engine running on fumes and on faith, But that parallel dimension? It wasn't waiting at the gate. It kicked down the front door, no appointment, no delay
Don't need a high-tech crystal ball, or a séance in the dark, When you're the last one to the finish, and the first one off the mark. She built a fragile kingdom on a secret she controlled, And the truth is always loudest when the silence gets too cold. It wasn't an accident, it was just simple consequence, Now she's stuck on the pavement, trying to make some sense.
