Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes redness, scaly patches, and dandruff. Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic form of eczema and most often affects the scalp, but can also develop in oily areas of the body, like the face, upper chest, and back. Symptoms include pinkish plaques (thick skin) of scales on both sides of your face, flaky patches on your chest and at your hairline that are shaped like a flower petal or a ring, redness in the folds and creases of your body, and inflamed hair follicles on your cheeks and the upper half of your trunk.
