Although somewhat a new kid on the block when it comes to producing dance music, Maara has been shifting gears in the scene and is killing it on all fronts as of late. With a killer debut EP landing on NAFF Recordings earlier this year, followed by a recent follow-up on Daniel Rincon run record label ISLA, her productions hit the sweet spot between the ethereal ambience of hazy afterhours ecstasy and tripped-out techno leanings. Wasting no time, Maara dives deep into a propulsive assembly of proggy house delights, blissful trance grooves and hypnotic techno, as she supplies our latest mix and we catch up to hear the latest. Back in April I had the chance to play at one of the coolest parties I've been to, WARNING in Berlin. Originally was booked to play as Space Cadets but Adam was ill so I did it solo, was quite nervous at the start (which never usually happens), when the pitch of the first track starts drifting by itself you know you're in for a real ride!

Luckily with the support of my friends and a really up for it crowd, I got into a flow pretty quick and everything just started to work - I think you can really hear that moment happen haha. The party was billed as a rave and I really leaned into that vibe, so lots of acidy bits, trippy tools and fast transitions!

Was a real pleasure to just play a bunch of my all time faves to such a great crowd on a ultra crisp and deep system, big love to anyone who was there! Hope you had as much fun dancing as I did playing <3

Neurocrank Mix: DJ Niamh

Celebrating the hundredth Animix with some of Animalia's very own - a special live set recorded at the Animalia event in May by Ebbs n Flow (@ebbsnflow), the brainchild of Will Holden & Dashiell. Will is @undergroundcityloop, and one half the iconic Melbourne chuggy trance duo @hybridmn. Dash (@dashiell) has released solo tunes on Animalia, and also makes up one third of Animalia's very own boyband, Ménage (@menagerecords). 

In their new project, the two have paired together to create cheeky, steppy tunes which delve into tech house, garage & d'nb inspired sounds. Ebbs n Flow released a couple of tunes on Animalia's recent compilations and have much more in the works.. so happy to share this mix with everyone for number 100!

With the sudden rise of minimal-tech, or as some call it “nuggets”, Estonias Abdul Raeva can be seen as part of this rising generation. Even though the word “tech-house" can still have a bad clang in some ears (as written in a recent article on Bandcamp), these dudes prove it is the polar opposite.
 
With releases on respected labels like Haws, Tombolo, Be Told Lies, as well as a critically acclaimed EP on the local Echocentric Records; Abdul Raeva have learned how to walk on the thin line between breaksy progressive and minimal. With support from some of the biggest DJs in this sphere, their combination of clubby basslines and more easy-going breakbeat for home listening is nothing short of tipping your hat to. 

With this mix they combine all what has been written above and do it flawlessly. We recommend that you dip this 1h nuggety delight in some hot sauce and garlic mayo.
