For the 51st instalment of the DETECT series, we are pleased to present a new layout and a spotlight on @marceldune.

Her music is created by combining modular synthesizers with analogue & digital sounds in addition to field recordings. She mainly draws inspiration from street culture and the unique rawness it exhibits. One other key element that manifests in MarcelDune’s music, is the underground culture, more specifically the people surrounding it and how they try to express their frustration, problems, and society’s oppression through music and dance.

She joined us last week for our latest UNSTREAM. For our next DETECT, we present that mix.

DETECT [051] - MarcelDune

Clarity is a neuroscientist by day, raver by night. Originally from Canada, she had the great pleasure of indulging in London's hard techno scene for a few months before the pandemic. She became drawn to trippy, spacey yet powerful, industrial sounds that are fast and expressive. Her energy on the dancefloor, is present in her music and her demeanour in real life. She wishes everyone good health and well-being, and hopes to be united at the dance very soon.

Following his hunger for new projects, French electronic music reference @danglesmaxime worked on the soundtrack of  “Les Délivrés”, a documentary directed by Thomas Grandremy about the alarming working conditions of delivery men/women employed by platforms such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats. He’s now extending his soundtrack work with an album. The alienation, stress, struggle and hope of the documentary’s protagonists were his sources of inspiration to draw this poetic extension of the director's harrowing and necessary documentary.

« Affrontement », the first single  from this 7-track LP which will be released by November 2021, talks about their fight for social justice. With raw and striking sounds, sometimes remembering sound of a factory, relates to the alienation of this kind of job. Even with a touch of melancholic, the harsh sound brings back to the struggle they are facing. Indeed, an incisive and powerful track between electronica and IDM, to push us in our thoughts.
