The last months of 2022 sometimes felt almost a little too hectic, a little too challenging, too restless. To Simulakrum, at least. And dancing became a coping mechanism once again. This mix tries to encapsulate this energy. All of the tracks were released and collected during these months: a lot of cheeky electro, unapologetic thumps, pure escapism.

Was hype and super nice vibes at the club, big up Emma Valtonen @emmavaltonen and Suski @suskidj for great sets as well. The night was recorded, but unfortunately there was a major distorted buzz sound going on through the whole file. Fortunately my friend Pataässä managed to pretty much remove it with plug-in magic, but this also resulted in a very filtered overall feel to the sound, but at least it's listenable. Was a great night so still wanted to share the recording and hope the vibes come through, even if the sound quality is muffled!

Constantly evolving her musical craft, she is not afraid to take unexpected turns and imbue vim and vigour into her transcendental yet resolute DJ sets.

Expect mixes with a metaphysical, tangible texture. From visceral ambient to blood-pumping percussions, Samar is adept at experimental bass, jungle, breaks, leftfield, and electronica. A transgressor of the traditional codes of the dancefloor. No frills, all thrills.

Brootworth is a Vienna-based multi-genre producer and artist. His latest 4-track EP, forthcoming on his label ghosttown, is a series of cybernetic dancefloor experiments that alternate between dismantled jungle and grime-infused syncopation. His sets are known to be dark and deconstructed, a journey through broken textures of fluttering kicks, warped vocal chops and polyrhythmic breaks.
With his recent live-sets, he shifts into more abstract and harsh sounds, exploring modes of fragmentation, alienation and dissolution of the bodily expression through digital distortions.

MR FIVE with Brootworth

For this first mix which marks the beginning of my residency, I decided to hop between both sides of the ocean. 
Expect grimey breaks, jersey, a bit of techno and then back and forth between jungle and footwork.
