Luke Blunton steps into the spotlight with his debut EP on Laib und Seele Records. A dynamic journey through textured, progressive soundscapes. The four-track release flows effortlessly between playful minimalism, infectious groove-driven house, deep dubby atmospheres and a trance-infused remix.

Opening with ‘Mirror State’, this track sets a confident tone with playful precision. A vocoded vocal line weaves through a stripped-back minimal framework, layered with rolling acid modulations and anchored by a bouncy bassline.

Next up, ‘Daisy Chain’ locks into a classic four-to-the-floor rhythm, a delicately produced proggy, deep house cut with meticulous attention to detail, topped off with a cheeky infectious melody that gets bodies moving and faces smiling.

‘Marinara Trench’ follows, diving deeper into dubby depths with a spacious, atmospheric feel. It unfolds like a voyage into deep waters, guided by immersive synth pads, slapping percussion and a subtle sense of motion that keeps the energy flowing while shifting the mood into more introspective territory.

Closing the EP, Nickon Faith takes another look into the mirror with his remix of ‘Mirror State’, transforming it into a trancey roller laced with psy elements, while maintaining its evolving proggy style, enriching it with extra rhythmic layers and a new splash of percussive flavour."

The Groovehouse Radio With Si Alker - EP2

As someone who started Dj'ing in the 90s, I though it was probably time I put a mix together of some of the classic jams we used to get down to back in the day.
Like any era, there's a lot of BS online about what we were really listening to, but I like to think this is an honest representation of what was going on, at least for a South London boy.

Intentionally avoided too much housey stuff, UK garage, DnB and nu school breaks as I reckon that will all deserve it's own mix though kicking off with a few RnB gems, some early funky & feel good 90s hip hop, acid jazz as well as a nod to the Big Beat movement and naturally a few dance classics to finish.

Hope you all like it. Took a while to put together though good fun taking that journey back and rediscovering some quality jams. Tried to avoid too many avoid choices but hopefully some classic vibes to give everyone a taste of some of that 90s goodness!!!

Keep your family close, they say. Which is exactly what SoHaSo does on the second chapter of their NOWHERE-series. At least five artist on this wonderful compilation reside in the city of Utrecht, most other ones are Dutch too. Foreign input comes from Ian Pooley and Dave Ellesmere, who both live in Berlin.

NOWHERE02 showcases the many flavours of the SoHaSo-label. From the aquatic ambient washes of Stijn Sadee, the AFX-like beat manipulations of RDS from Amsterdam to the dubby Detroit skeletons of Luna Ludmilla you soon have to admit how versatile the Dutch label actually is. Most tracks veer away from straight four-four beats, trading them for more adventurous movements in rhythm.

Apart from giving talents like w1bo, Tjade and Rahsaan Nova (a new alter ego for D-Ribeiro) a platform, NOWHERE02 also hosts long term beat makers such as Tripeo from Nijmegen and Mark du Mosch from Rotterdam. When the bassline of his killer tune In A Flash (e) hits, all you can do is surrender to it while worshipping the disco ball. Lovely.

NOWHERE02 is full of gems like this. Music that both challenges you and puts a smile on your face. Utrecht-based Freek Fabricius took the family-element quite literal on the aptly titled Astronaut Princess. His young daughter Yuna gets full credits for the vocal part of his laid back Balearic work out. Later this year Fabricius will release his own EP on SoHaSo.
