Our Brooklyn-Amsterdam connection has been growing stronger each day in the past few years. The bond our platform has with artists and labels from Amsterdam is truly special. The amount of talented artists and quality music that emerges (almost feels like daily) from the vibrant Dutch scene is mind-boggling. In that type of environment you really need to do something original and of high quality to get recognized. One of the record labels that has been on a steady rise since their initial release in 2017, Kalahari Oyster Cult seems to be making all the right moves. For all good reasons, Kalahari Oyster Cult is considered as one of the most exciting imprints nowadays which pushes the boundaries of electronic music with each new release and is home to artists like Roza Terenzi, Erell Ranson, Cleveland, A Psychic Yes and Reptant to name a few. 

The mastermind behind all this is Rey Colino, DJ and curator, whose mixes have been on heavy rotation in our HQs. In 2020, Colino started a new project - a vinyl-focused distribution service One Eye Witness. The project acts as a missing link between record labels and artists that share similar philosophies and provides them with a foundation to further develop. By being the main curator for both Kalahari Oyster Cult and One Eye Witness and with the amount of quality music that goes through his hands on a daily basis, Rey Colino is a perfect addition to our 'Delayed with...' series. 

The mix Colino made for us is a brilliant, feel-good energetic voyage that features tons of forthcoming releases. Technically immaculate with a great vibe all over, this mix is one of the best we heard this year. Hats off, Rey Colino!

Our next mix comes from someone we've been dying to have on here - one of our absolute favourite producers and DJs @caim-records ! 

As one of the mainstays in the Amsterdam scene, Mark has been putting out some incredibly classy records on his own imprint, drawing inspiration from deep house, electro, techno and the incredible talent pool of his peers such as Eversines, RDS and Human Space Machine. 

As well as his productions, he is an incredibly deep digger with the skills to match, flawlessly weaving together gems from across the musical spectrum of the last 20 years. As you know, this is exactly what we like here at On Ro so we're more than happy to present this fantastic mix from a true DJ's DJ.

Richard is one of the great minds behind the legendary SUB:SYSTEM, a party run throughout undiscovered warehouse spaces in London. The SUB:SYSTEM community has become a staple in the underground nightlife and rave scene in the capital, and has pioneered a space for expression and exploration into the psychedelic sound of the incredible roster of DJs and artists that have soundtracked their parties over the years.

As a DJ he has a deep, expansive understanding of the prog-rolling, euphoric and psychedelic space. Through his mixes Richard never fails to create a continual state of hypnosis and energy with trance-inducing drums and throbbing synths throughout. With this mix we’re treated to an hour of old school, undiscovered rollers. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we did!

Next up in the mix series is one of our favourite DJ's of recent times, Gabriola, who you may know either as co-honcho of Hackney based, Magicwire, or from his monthly NTS show - both of which, notably fantastic outlets for great new and forward thinking music. Aside from keeping busy being from the above, as well as being as digitally enigmatic as possible, Gabriola's productions are have somewhat began to bubble above the surface as of late, further propagating his newtopian sounds which have become so closely associated with Magicwire, across the sonisphere.

In this hour-and-quarter, Gabriola lays down an array of distopian/utopian soundscapes, eased in by an eerie wash of ambient voices and sweeps. You're soon met with what you will have become a-custom to if a listener of his show, dance floor ready workouts, all tinged with a hue of future-melancholy. Although we should be unbiased here, this is truly one of our favourite mixes we have received - make sure to keep it close.
