Alex Frosell, better known as DJ ADHD, delivers an hour of trademark, off-kilter gems for number 34 in the Junction 2 Mix series. 

From his roots in the UK dubstep scene as part of the DEEP MEDI family to his most recent repositioning as DJ ADHD, Alex has carved out a distinguished sound that blurs the lines between techno and UK bass music. Last year’s standout debut EP release on Pretty Weird saw support from artists such as Four Tet, Floating Points, Caribou, Giant Swan and Special Request and he’s continued his prolific output into 2022 with dancefloor tested releases with Nikki Nair, Villager and Chloé Robinson.

"This mix was actually the first practice take I did - very off the cuff and perhaps a little rough around the edges, but I thought it would be a better representation of my current DJ style than meticulously planning every moment and transition. Generally speaking the only guide rail I had for it was a desire to do a bit of a reversal of the usual “chiller music and then build the intensity” style and start off with some juke-y, ravier elements and end the mix with a bit more of a heads down psychedelic 4x4 moment. There are a number of forthcoming bits from myself in there to showcase what’s coming in the next few months, plus brand new and unreleased music from some friends like Hodge, Nick León, and Erik Luebs."

Sicaria Sound are resident DJs for the Deep Medi Musik label and since 2018 they have held a monthly residency on Rinse FM. In 2020 they launched their Cutcross imprint to “champion the melting pot of bass-centric sounds teetering around 140 BPM…whilst spotlighting underground artists" and in March 2021 they made their production debut with their first EP 'Binate'. Sometimes there are moments and sets in London clubland where the stars align, certain artists are in the building and the energy is LOOSE.

Skee Mask at the HVYWGHT 4th Birthday back in February was one of those moments.

Following on from a South London Digital Mystikz homecoming at peak time to a fever pitch Brixton Electric. Playing a dubstep party for the first time, alongside legends of the scene - Skee Mask proceeded to play one of the hardest sets we’ve ever seen, effortlessly mixing classic grime into dubstep into techno into breaks and beyond.

A flurry of MC’s were in the wings, none of whom were booked to host the set but had no choice but to jump on. The energy was infectious - Flowdan B2B Trim B2B Chunky B2B SP:MC over Skee Mask on the Sinai Soundsystem. We can guarantee you will never get this combination of artists on a set EVER again.
