Joining us for Tapes #172 is Yungfya, a DJ and producer who has carved a path through Berlin’s underground with seismic selections that hit hard and cut deep.

Sonically varied yet primal as ever, her highly percussive, bass heavy sound is an ode to her UK roots, where club-focused music meets the avant-garde in textured blends of dubstep and grime, layered over syncopated techno, footwork and breaks. Her love for the craft and aptitude for storytelling radiates far beyond the booth, creating a sense of connection that unites crowds and pushes underground culture forward.

“For this mix, I felt inspired to create a journey that incorporates different aspects of all the music scenes I’ve dipped in and out of over the last decade. I’ve always been drawn to underground subcultures that experiment with music in weird and interesting ways. Moving between heavy sound system experimentations and hypnotic psy and techno influences, each track pushes the next into new territory. It’s a journey that gives thanks to all the spaces that have held me in the past and sonically influenced what I do today - love to everyone who continues to keep these scenes alive and ever-evolving.”
