I live about 40 minutes west of Chicago. My love for music is definitely a family thing. My parents had a huge record collection and my dad sang back in the day. I would go through and listen to records by the cool album covers. Lay by the speakers and mimic every word and sound I liked.  Then music videos grabbed my attention. 
I noticed Michael Jackson and the Jacksons. Then, Prince, Madonna, The Police, Level 42, and all the other dope 80s artists. Then, the 90s came along then rap became part of my life. I listened to everything! I also would read the album credits to see who wrote and produced all these cool songs. At that point, my brain was consumed with music. I then found Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, EWF, songwriter Rod Temperton, production by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Roy Ayers,  etc....and became obsessed with synths and pads, dope arrangements, and cool, edgy sounds. Then, I fell in love with the Neptunes and Timbaland. At that point, I was ready to make my own music. I could always write.....but I wanted to make beats. 
I hooked up with one of my buddy's I use to sing with in chorus and a group called Invasion, from high school. I co-wrote and co-produced 4 records on a compilation we put together with a few local rappers and singers. We did local shows and talent nights around the city. We created a little buzz with our indie label......Commish Records. My business parter and friend Jon Locke and I worked very hard. But it fell apart. Creative differences with our artists and guys egos. 
Then, I finally purchased my own equipment and software. I got frustrated with where I was in life, I put a hold on my music to focus on my family and my paying job. A few years later, I got that bug again. I began to work on my craft and focused on what direction I wanted to go in. Currently, I'm working on an EP, with my buddy Jon Locke and other local artists, as well. 
I have a unique sound, developed with a combination every artist and writer
 I listen to. I plan to take over the pop charts and make a name for myself. Soon, everyone will know me......Rio Carlyle, making music my way.
