GOLD CELESTE - The Wonder Of Love

"Lifecries" is Svankropp's debut single. Hooks chopped in two, beats that surprise and pummel, vocals that on the surface sound absurd but are full of melodic comfort and guitars that evoke the soundtrack of an old Nintendo game. 

Svankropp list themselves a Scandinavian cyber-punk phenomenon. Inspired by sci-fi, 80’s glam, noisy indie, goths and the odd power ballad it’s fair to say that the music could move in any direction but it’s still distinctly Svankropp, no matter what they do. Angular guitars and epileptic drums, obscured vocals and blistering bass are at the core of everything when Svankropp channel their chaotic tendencies into playful absurdity, all-out sonic mayhem and delicious songs - yup, that’s about right. 

"Lifecries is one of the first songs that Svankropp wrote, and it defines the bands sound. It is a mix of shoegaze-guitars and club rhythms combined with the colder, darker perspective of the 1980s."

ANGELICA'S ELEGY - Hazy Days of Yesteryear

The young and fresh Trondheim-based indie group are despite their tender years quickly making a name for themselves on the Norwegian music scene.

Panda Panda transform their atonal pop leanings into noisy and blissful indie rock that crackles with intensity, but also know when to leave their hooks a bit of space to breathe. Distorted and direct, debut single «New Friends» journeys into synth and guitar driven Sonic Youth-esque landscapes before turning things on it’s head with a sweetly melodic verse that sees singers Ragnhild Fanged Jamtveit and Håkon Brunborg Kjenstad delicately swirl around each other over poignant guitars and playful drums. It’s sprawling, dreamy, sonically massive, wonderfully weird and it’s all Panda Panda.

Panda Panda have generated a lot of buzz in Norway the last months, playing prestigious festivals such as Trondheim Calling, Pstereo and UKA and are hotly tipped to be one of Norway’s most exciting bands the next years. 

The band: «New Friends»  was written in the transition between a quite chaotic and a really good period. In its essence it’s about being bored and tired of routines, while waiting for something cool to happen. Its about observing human relations while frantically searching for some kind of authenticity. Its also about 9/11 conspiracy theories. And a tribute to the fast life. And those who are constantly swiped to the left. And finally, a shoutout to children with diabetes.

PANDA PANDA - New Friends

On their brand new debut single «Sunshine Crawlers» Norwegian newcomers Haunted Mansions bring warmth and understated confidence to their hiphop-inspired indie weirdness. The Trondheim-based duo's  first offering is full of insistent pop hooks, and is a great introduction to their sound. 

Haunted Mansions namecheck Portugal The Man, Danger Mouse and Gorillaz when asked to describe their music and while those artists have inspired Haunted Mansions it's clear to all that they bring their own flavour to the music as well. 

The song combines old-school hiphop beats, almost shimmering acoustic guitars, textured synths and weird, smoky and infectious vocals to perfection. «Sunshine Crawlers» is seductive in all it’s gloom, mildly psychedelic and strongly melodic, but most of all just really great. 

It’s a song about social injustice, about realizing that the world is blindingly unfair and that there really isn’t that much hope to be found. Still, there are undertones of resistance, a subdued call to arms. The last chorus rises above the gloom and asks «Who’s laughing now» as it perhaps finds an ever so slight glimmer of light in the enveloping darkness of modern society.

Thomas: "We had been flirting with the idea of writing songs and starting a band together for a long time, and it just sort of happened one day. As Vegard was leaving my studio he heard the initial demo for Sunshine Crawlers with no vocals from the hallway, and went back with an old melody of his, that just fit the song. From there everything just fell into place and the song was incredibly easy to complete. It is the first song we wrote together."
