Sinchi & Friends  127 comes from one our favourite producers of the moment .... Chinaski (@southofmouth).  Stefan has been delivering bomb after bomb over the recent years and made a killer remix for us (the Sinchi label) last year for 'Je Palpite' which you can check out via SC or Bandcamp.  With the restrictions this past year, he's been locked in the studio and we're excited to hear new music coming up on the likes of Live at Robert Johnson and Dischi Autunno in the new future. In the meanwhile, the Robert Johnson resident serves up an eclectic podcast inspired by 'Game' music he's been digging. Enjoy...

After a string of highly regarded Modern Balearic EPs over the last two years, Steve Miller aka Afterlife is back on his Subatomic imprint with his much anticipated ‘Baywatch EP’, looking forward to better and brighter days. True to the trademark mind-soothing touch we know him for, Miller lands a new, vividly hued quartet of sun-baked grooves, engineered to uplift and soothe both the body and soul. This couldn’t be more needed today.

 

Fresh coastal air blows across the opening track ‘Fly’, where we’re invited to take off to the sound of exotic string movements, as subtly arranged portamentos and prismatic synths entangle in one sensual dance. Bringing muscular weight to the bass range, title-cut ‘Baywatch’ ignites a dancefloor-friendly fire of playful acid synth and slow scudding pads. The result is efficient as it invites you to dive deep into Afterlife’s intricate sound design and lavish interplays on textures. Back to a quieter, more serene vibes ‘The Bridge’, is a sonic haiku with tapping drums, verbed-out Duduk solos and weightless chimes that pour out gently like water in a Zen garden.  ‘Lost Tribes’ wraps it up on an equally easy, yet more adventurous note with a ballet of jazzy solos, washed-out pads, chimes and subtle chords making their way to the surface from deep down in the most vivid of dreamscapes. It’s time for sunshine.

The second release of the year already from the party music people of Abstrack. This time, it’s Brussels-based artist Strapontin whose original production is on the menu, with reinterpretation from several gifted companions. The multitude here is no excuse for genericity or easy recipes, rather a fertile playground for toying around with a wide range of vibes and moods.

Matches is a poetic, sensual spoken-word piece. The song feels like a flower about to blossom, though with plenty of hybrid DNA in it. In the end, it leaves the way wide open for further emotions to get through. And they do.

Sasnal Park is the emotion of wonder: looking for something forever, but for what? The drums make you believe that you found it but they turn out to be a mirage, and so does every tangible element of the track. A beautiful journey in the end even if you don’t know where you’ve been.

Family Diner … no ambiguity this time: a mystical roller as dark as it is trippy. Or maybe more trippy. Either way, not sure you can resist dancing to this one played out loud. Lose yourself to screaming halfway through, but only to fall back well-rooted in those dancing feet afterward.

On the flip, remixers put it where they’re expected to: A Strange Wedding takes the wandering “Sasnal Park” on the Edge of trancy club music, closer to the roots of Abstrack parties.

Feon turns the belter “Family Diner” into a road roller: sirens and massive subs engage into a memorable fistfight.

And home man Vidock chooses the very dreamlike “Matches”, adding quite a touch of dancefloor but not removing one inch of a dream.

A digital bonus of great value is delivered by the hands of Anatolian weapon, remixing Sasnal Park. This time, no messing around: its full-on club mood, the acid line, and the powerful beats turning the wander and the dream into a strangely haunting dancefloor weapon.

Panthera Krause's latest and divinely titled album "It's a Business Doing Pleasure With You" is now a year old, but nonetheless still blissfully resonating. It is Mr. Krause's most accomplished and versatile work yet. So versatile actually, you'd have to be hella versatile yourself to remix that material. But the Riotvan headquarter still managed to gather a bunch of people with good prospects to live up to the job. And so they did. 
Find here an utmost pleasure providing remix package courtesy of: Rebolledo directing the arpeggio bliss of "Road To Arcadia" into even more club apt territories. Theo Kottis turning everybody's favorite "Birthday Club" into a more detailed and pad-saturated affair. Shubostar speeding up the rather downbeat Franko-Funk of "J'ai Envie De Toi" to a bassline-driven groove monster. Fango taking in all the atmospheric quirkiness of "Redo Rdid" and processing it into an odd, yet charming floor-heater. And finally Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht finding a deeper and more bass dominated interpretation of "Sledge Hammer".

Milan-based record label Alzaya returns with a four track spanning EP by young Italian talent Acidgigi. Acidgigi is a 20 year old DJ and producer with a debut EP coming up on Alzaya. Titled 'Hypersomnia', his first EP offering crosses euphoria-induced rave suspensions, ethereal breakbeat and chugging rhythms, next to featuring a remix by Closet Yi. The title track running through us today.

Kablooey! TANK rolls into spring with a hell of a mixtape by a dj we wanted for a long time: Miimo! Being a member of the legendary Hard Fist collective from the very beginning, he brings dark disco vibes with strong esoteric influences. For TANK he cooked up something special and brought out some psychedelic disco, slow italo and dubby tracks. Lower BPM's, but high energy with this one!
