Kick-starting 2024 in emphatic fashion, Czech rising star Dominik Gehringer releases his highly-anticipated cut ‘Strange World’ on Purified Records. The ‘Strange World’ artwork showcases Daniel Nicholson’s spectacular still of a whale shark. Despite their imposing size, whale sharks exude an air of tranquility as they glide through the ocean, mouths agape to filter plankton-rich waters. These magnificent beings are not only the world’s largest fish, but they also hold a unique place in marine ecology as gentle filter feeders. Their longevity, reaching up to 70 years, has captured the attention of researchers keen on unraveling the mysteries of their lives. Organizations like the Marine Megafauna Foundation engage in vital conservation efforts, conducting research that not only aids in understanding the species, but also contributes to broader ocean health initiatives. Despite being filter feeders, whale sharks face threats like bycatch, boat strikes, and habitat degradation. Their slow reproductive rate makes them susceptible to population decline. They are listed as endangered according to the IUCN.

The latest installment of our free download series welcomes Adam Sellouk and YLM with their take on Post Malone’s ‘Hollywood Bleeding’. Hailing from Israel, Adam Sellouk first emerged in 2021 with a contribution to Steyoyoke’s Paradigm collection. Immediately recognized for his astral sound, Adam quickly caught the attention of world class DJ Miss Monique, who signed him to her Siona Records imprint for a two-track showcase later that same year. Melodic house and techno tastemakers Agents of Time, Innellea, Kevin de Vries and Mathame were the first to chime in with support, as subsequent releases via Eleatics, Purified and UPPERGROUND followed across the next two calendar years. Nightlapse - Weightless (Dan Sushi Remix)

Revisiting one of the label’s first releases from 2019, Canadian producer Return Of The Jaded’s ‘Soma’ receives two new versions. Reworking the original in his VIP edit, ROTJ infuses drum and bass elements to craft a brooding soundscape that further demonstrates his versatility as a producer. Czech artist Dominik Gehringer delivers a striking rendition, showcasing his progressive and powerful sonic identity, while keeping the original’s essence alive.
The Soma Remixes artwork displays a majestic image of an eagle ray, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Eagle rays are large, graceful rays known for their distinctive, flat, diamond-shaped bodies and long, slender tails. They are often seen gliding near the ocean floor or in open water, where they feed on mollusks, crustaceans, and small fish, using their powerful jaws to crush hard shells. Eagle rays face threats primarily from habitat loss and degradation, particularly of coral reefs and seagrass beds where they feed and breed, which pose significant risks to their populations. Following his massive release ‘Strange World’ earlier this year, Czech producer Dominik Gehringer returns to Purified, teaming up with Ovadia for their ‘Digital Age’ EP. Entering a futuristic realm through spoken word vocoders, heavy percussion and soaring synths, the producers explore a cacophony of sounds in the title track. Delivering a peak time cut, Dominik leads audiences on an energetic journey throughout a hybrid and impactful soundscape in his second offering ‘Dance With Me’.

The ‘Digital Age’ artwork showcases a striking image of a blacktip shark, captured by Daniel Nicholson. Blacktip sharks (Carcharhinus limbatus) are powerful predators found in tropical and subtropical waters, playing a key role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems by regulating prey populations. These sharks are known for their distinctive black-tipped fins and their remarkable agility, often leaping out of the water during feeding frenzies. Unfortunately, overfishing and habitat degradation are threatening their populations. The Shark Research Unit, (@sharkresearchunit / shark-research.com), is conducting critical studies on shark behavior, ecology, and conservation to protect these vital species and ensure the health of ocean ecosystems.

Above & Beyond release the ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 2’ EP, a collection of five instrumental club anthems that fuse elements from across the electronic music spectrum. 

During a busy year of worldwide shows, including Brazil, Canada, UK and the US, the GRAMMY-nominated founders of Anjunabeats, Jono, Paavo and Tony have been hard at work in the studio on their next volume.

The name of the EP series references A&B’s beloved Tranquility Base alias, which was revered for its contribution to the trance genre, including iconic records such as ‘Surrender’, ‘Oceanic’ and ‘Razorfish’. 

Following the enormous success of Volume 1 last year, Above & Beyond are back with the second set of five club-dominating instrumental records.

Above & Beyond’s ‘React’, the bassline-heavy single from ‘Tranquility Base Vol. 2’, was released on 1 November. 

The second single, a euphoric classic trance track titled ‘Another Breakdown’, was released on 20 November.

Debuted at Above & Beyond Group Therapy 600 in Mexico City to an audience of 14,000, and recently heard at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Dreamstate SoCal, the full EP is here.

It features three additional tracks: ‘Hackney Siren’, an electric melting pot of trance, acid and breakbeat, layered with piano chords reminiscent of 90s piano house; ‘From Grey To Light’, another experimental production from the trio featuring trippy acid baselines and layers of piano chords, and ‘Chasing Highs’, a classic trance track that delivers a sound reminiscent of the early 2000s club era.

GRAMMY-nominated electronic trio Above & Beyond release a long-awaited remix of ‘Sun In Your Eyes’, from California’s Spencer Brown.

Spencer first appeared on Anjunabeats with ‘Wannamaker’ in 2016. His productions blur the lines between deep house, progressive and trance, earning a place in the record bags of top flight artists Above & Beyond, deadmau5, Calvin Harris and Sasha.

‘Sun In Your Eyes’ was originally released on Above & Beyond’s 2011 album ‘Group Therapy’, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. One of Above & Beyond’s most popular instrumental pieces, ‘Sun In Your Eyes’ has had a new lease on life, with Jamie XX and Grimes recently supporting the track. It was remastered for Above & Beyond’s 2019 ambient album ‘Flow State’, which has generated over 135 million streams to date. Spencer’s remix has been a secret weapon in his live shows for years, and is the first remix of the track to be officially released as a single.

Spencer’s second mix album, ‘Stream of Consciousness’, was released on Anjunabeats in January 2020. Last year also saw Spencer team up with ALPHA 9 on ‘Ariel / Afterlife’ and with Anjunadeep’s Ben Böhmer on the ‘Phases EP’.
