Tapeworms - Magic Pierrot

Naarm/Melbourne 4-piece screensaver is back with a double A-side 7-inch single just 6-months after delivering their 10-track debut album Expressions of Interest on Upset the Rhythm to positive international response. See praise for the record on Maximum Rock ‘n’ Roll, KEXP, and Post Trash. The album has also been a regular feature on Henry Rollin’s KCRW Santa Monica radio show.

The band return with two distinctly different tracks that extend upon the blend of post-punk, new wave and synth-punk on their debut. Side A, Clean Current is a burst of high-energy: nervy guitars and groovy base underpinned with krautrock drums and cosmic synth noise, overlayed with delay heavy vocals. Repeats is the flipside of the coin, a moody post-punk stomper, led by gritty saw tooth synth, chorus-soaked guitar, textural percussion and soaring vocals. Lyrically Clean Current spits out retorts aimed at the engulfing nature of anxiety whilst Repeats critiques the repetition of modern life, languishing human existence.
Clean Current nods it’s head to likes of Snapper and 80s Flying Nun bands whilst Repeats owes it origins more to the progenitors of goth-rock.

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the legendary Frantix! Their unique sound and chaotic live show transfixed the early 1980s Colorado punk scene and these are all of the band's studio tracks, along with rare, unreleased and great sounding live and demo songs. They evolved into the equally legendary grunge band The Fluid, who were one of Sub Pop's first non-Seattle bands back in 1988. Though most people mistakenly believe that Mudhoney’s well-known cover of “My Dad’s A Fuckin’ Alcoholic” is a Mudhoney song, THIS is the original KBD classic!  Album out on April 29th!

Sydney’s Raw Prawn have been spreading themselves around for a little bit now, forming in early 2011. Made up of members from bands as disparate as Holy Balm and Whores - Raw Prawns unique blend of weird rock and endearingly quipped 'yobo punk' recalls The Urinals, strains of Australian ‘murder punk’ such as Razar and The Victims, and even the refracted post-punk of UK band Swell Maps. Raw Prawn have played a slew of shows in Sydney with local bands, have recently supported Home Blitz (US) and will play at this years Maggot Fest in Melbourne. Their debut seven inch is forthcoming on the mighty R.I.P. Society, and a full-length in the works for release mid-late 2013.
