‘The HitMan' from Marvellous Cain and Cutty Ranks was a record that's been spun in sets across globe. A
successful dancefloor anthem, it's stayed in the minds of music enthusiasts since it was first dropped on an
unsuspecting crowd. The original is a feisty, reggae infused banger, one which permeated across the summer.
And following its success are a host of remixes, all packaged for your listening delight, with the tempo switched
up and featuring some expert reimagining.
A pioneer in the 90s, it can only be expected that Cain enlisted the help of some contemporary talent to give
‘The HitMan' a rework. Enlisting the help of rave-decimator Bladerunner, Jungle Citizenz, DJ Hybrid and King
Yoof, they've delivered four delicious cuts that'll take you straight into the dance, no matter where you are.
Bladerunner brings you into a murkier depth, with elevating bass notes and cracking, climatic drum rolls.
Adding the kind of stocky kicks that make him so notorious, the producer takes you onto a different
wavelength, one which ebbs and flows but never leaves the darker waters. Warbling sub adds to the mix's
bolstering, giving it a weight that leads you aural synapses first into rave worthy anarchy.
Jungle Citizinz are up next, with a techier kick and utilising the ragga-like vocals as snippets of sample between
each sound layer. Bringing a more new-school flare, whilst siren lead snare calls out in-between, it's the perfect
introduction to their mashup sonics. Then comes DJ Hybrid, whose version is more reminiscent of the postjungle
90s flavour, whilst still nodding to the genre's roots. Working with its predecessor, DJ Hybrid merges
both old and new school, a concoction of clashing breaks and snapping beat patterns. There's no time for
stopping, because the artist keeps moving with every hard-hitting segment.
And lastly, King Yoof brings his offering. With a pitched down tempo, focusing primarily around the original's
reggae roots, it's the embodiment of what this record is about. With a melody that'll have your hips shaking,
King Yoof works his magic, leaving you to bask in the skill of each producer and each very diverse contribution.

One of the biggest jungle records to come out in recent years, ‘TheHitman’ from Cutty Ranks proves the subgenre is still as infamous as it always was on the club circuit. The popularity of its reworks also demonstrates this point, with Ranks drawing the biggest names in bass music to take on remix duties, stretching the track across an impressive expanse of sound. This time he returns alongside drum & bass and garage icons such as Scott Garcia and Kenny Ken, as well as relative newcomers Benny L and Toronto is Broken, with a huge selection of fresh cuts to line your sets this coming summer. 

Whilst Jinx dives with exploration of ruffneck territories, featuring lumbering drum patterns and clinking breaks, Kenny Ken’s VIP demonstrates his longevity as an artist with tightly-woven production and a wavering bassline. Then comes burgeoning artist Toronto is Broken’s take on the original, moving you into a more dancefloor lead world, reminiscent of his slowly widening back catalogue. Inna Culture points to more dancehall infused vibes, adding a diversity to the package which exemplifies a wide range of musicality. T>I does what he does best for his version, with hollow drums and a quickening pulse helping to explode the record with a take-no-prisoners reload. Benny V rolls alongside Halcyon for a gyrating number which twists between a funk-laddered bassline and climatic drum patterns, once again proving the versatility that drum & bass has to offer throughout the album’s entirety.

Dialect & Kosine, Kid Yoof, Jungle Citizens and Adam Prescott, bring their contemporary jungle sounds for their retelling, whilst Bladerunner delves into subterranean levels for his VIP. DJ Hybrid brings his old-school flavours into the mix alongside the smashing drums of CoiTy & RyKennon’s collaborative effort to which brings the record through their own signature flare. Other collaborations include Scott & Nick’s revamp, 2 Rotten Scoundrel’s, the monstrous outfit of FatMan D, Klip & Outlaw and Nicky Blackmarket, as well as K-I & P-Dee. UKG legend Scott Garcia, also has his take, bringing the track into a new bpm. Legend DJ Hype adds his remix into the fray, as well as Serial Killaz and blossoming newcomer Benny L. Other big names included on the LP include Choppah, Subtifuge, Sound Shifter 94 Killerz, Sappo and HavocNdeeD BC, Keith Rinse it, Stivs and DJ Monk. Jamie Bostron, Dreamteam, Ascend & Dead Dread, D-Region & Code and Bellyman also help to draw the album to a close, joining together an impressive set of artists.
The full album delivers a versatile mix of records, with each track adding a whole new dimension to an already stellar release. Classical business: things don't get much more foundational than Marvellous Caine's original IQ imprint. Home to a whole gamut of gully slingers between 1994 - 95, here the label reflects on some of the label's many original jungle and hardcore conquests. And considering the label was only in operation for two years, it had many conquests including a very early outing from Andy C and Ant Miles under their Desired State alias ("Hello Lover (Remix)"), early cuts from Dillinja ("Sax Into The Night") and DJ Hype with his own remix of "Hello Lover". Elsewhere we can physically hear the tempo rising with cuts like Back 2 Basic's string-sizzled "Oh Yeah" and of course Captain Caine himself under his Badman guise. What a history lesson!

We consisists of Deejays, Mc’s, Vocalists & Producers all our artists have previous experience in the underground scene dating back to 1988 to now from Reggae to Rave, Jungle to Garage, Hip Hop to House right up Dubstep and beyond, from performing on successful radio stations in and around London to playing on the club circuit for established promoters within the scene across the world with each individual gaining high recognition as individual artists in their own fields. Through our passion for all genres of underground music and all artists coming from an urban background we put together YARDROCK entertainment where we can cover all the aspects of the scene.
