Purple Dancer was written in the aftermath of the tragic terror attack at the Nova Festival on October 7, 2023. What began as a celebration of music under the Negev desert sky turned into a day of unimaginable loss. Dancers and partygoers were brutally murdered, some were kidnapped, and many remain in captivity. Some survivors have since joined the fight to protect Israel, now caught in a war no one could have anticipated.
The Purple Dancer is not just one person. They represent everyone—a child, a soldier, a dancer—reflecting the many faces of those victimized by wars that spare no one. In a "primal and biblical land," the "Purple Beret" becomes a symbol of resilience, beauty, and the fragility of life on the edge of war and peace.
On the first anniversary of the worst massacre to ever occur at a music festival, this song honors the dancers and their undeniable bravery, pays tribute to those who are gone, and calls for the return of those still missing. It conveys the hope that, one day, our world may be whole again.

Riquay is a dynamic alternative rock singer-songwriter whose music boldly navigates themes of feminism, sexuality, history, world politics, and religion. Classically trained in clarinet from the age of eight, Riquay earned a degree in music, receiving a prestigious woodwind performance award during her studies. As the lead vocalist of Season of the Crow, she was integral to their critically acclaimed 2018 album, earning praise from Prog Magazine for her "dark contralto rich voice."
Blending introspective, poetic lyrics with a raw, atmospheric rock sound, Riquay creates music that captivates and challenges listeners. Her debut single, "Purple Dancer," showcases her contemplative and thought-provoking songwriting, receiving enthusiastic responses from fans. Her upcoming single, "Dreaming of You," set to release on February 7, continues this trend.
In addition to her solo work, Riquay explores EDM and pop as one half of the duo Palace Intrigue, with a busy schedule of releases planned for 2025.
