Last Saturday was one of the best nights we have ever hosted in or 23 year career together.  Every DJ prepared their set and it really showed.

In my career, last Saturday was one of the best crowds I have ever played for.  I am still getting chills from people dancing, clapping, singing, and yes people on each others shoulders, like they were at a festival.  

I originally wasn't going to post my set, but because it was such a positive experience, I thought I should release it into the wild.  This mix is for everyone who was there, and everyone who wanted to, but couldn't make it.

Upon listening, I feel that this is one of my best.  I hope you can take a moment to listen and relive the magic that happened on that bouncing Monkey Loft deck last Saturday at LOST.

About Iggy:
Iggy started her music career on the East Coast at the age of 15 as a lead singer and guitarist in a folk-alternative band, Gummy Dinosaurs. When the opportunity came to move across the country to Oakland in 1994, Iggy landed a few blocks from a record store, where she bought her first dance track, making the plunge into DJing. After years of carrying bags of vinyl on her skateboard, visiting friends with decks and sound systems, she built her own system, the BoomZilla Sound. With the help of her best friend, Disco Dianna, the BoomZilla Sound Collective was formed.

The Boomzilla Sound Collective (BSC) is a non-profit organization connecting musicians to collaborate and create a unique audio experience through community, inclusivity and expression. Iggy and Dianna manage the BSC music studio in Oakland to provide a space for the musicians to collaborate, experiment and evolve their art. The BCS curates many events every year for the current and prospective collective members to share their art with people who love music. Their events range from dance parties, live streaming broadcasts, and DJ workshops for aspiring artists.

I am Ukraine. Or least my grandmother was.

Other than heritage, I don't have a direct connection to the land, language, or people. When the invasion began, Ukraine was on my mind constantly. This track started as something else in late 2021, but as the invasion continued, musical ideas formed from the news I was absorbing, and what I could only imagine the Ukraine people are experiencing.

There is a single synth, affectionately referred to as the "wobble" in the project file, that is the solo instrument in the track. It doesn't move much in pitch, and instead it uses rhythm and oscillation to dance and fight through the soundscape. It evolves as you listen, telling a story. Whatever story you hear, understand that this is a song of hope.

Special thanks to the Ukraine soldiers of Snake Island for their very important contribution to this track.
