Maison mêle voix, guitares, textures électroniques et chants d’oiseaux enregistrés dans les marais de Misery (Essonne). En live, leurs chants sont joués via un synthétiseur que j’ai construit. Cet EP tisse une poésie intime et écologique, où s’entrelacent attention au vivant, sororité et territoires sensibles. Elle ouvre un cycle de compositions sur l’écoute comme manière d’habiter.

sounds are immediate environmental indicators of the environmental changes’ consequences. they can be indeed more sensitive, faster and precise in their language. they reveal what can be hidden in an image while offering another reading of the territory. creating an evolutionary sound library of the camargue fauna to follow its evolution year by year, and developping at the same time a sound mediation device encouraging an intelligible listening of the diversity of camargue species can create a link between the scientific observation of the region and a general public sensitizing experience about the fauna’s diversity. 

today, I started the creation of an experimental sound cartography representating a part of the diversity of the camargue's bird species, starting from recordings made in may 2018 in the ‘rousty bridge’ area in the park and from recordings from xeno-canto.org*.

this is a composition that reveals differently a territory thanks to a variety of decliningor growing species, from wetlands or agricultural areas, whose common point is that their sound pattern was a marker of environmental evolution. my work proposes a temporal dilation of the sounds, to encourage a better perception by placing the various birds in the space in the manner of an orchestra.

this diffusion is thought of as a speculative stroll in this orchestra that could become a pedagogic soundtrack for the Camargue's visitors.

the camargue's birds orchestra - music with the biophony

'le vent d'hiver' is the first opus of - and entirely created by - marylou (french sound designer, musician and also a kind of weirdo fascinated by european birdsongs and DIY instruments). 

it's an incentive to carefully listen the artist's soundscape with some vulnerability as her compositions - with french poetry and melancholic folk melodies - are constantly dancing with her recordings of dutch and french nature's songs through the entire opus, though as an unique narrative sound piece to explore.

it's a story, modestly, something like a sensitive wandering, or an ambivalent reverie.

i made a tribute to the birds of Camargue. I recorded them two years ago, some of them are not easy (or impossible) to find anymore because of the intensive agricultural system there, it destroys their nests. 

After the lockdown, i do hope to find them again.
