Canadian producer, director, and composer Errance is set to deliver his second single, ‘Idyll’, on April 12th, 2024 via Société Holographique de Montréal. The track follows the release of his debut single, ‘Guidance’, which received support from CLASH Magazine, BBC Radio 6’s Tom Ravenscroft and Deb Grant. Errance is the solo musical project of Gabriel Gagnon, who is beginning to carve out a place for his own musical expression in the wake of a process of deep introspection, self-growth and a profound connection to nature. Both singles are lifted from his upcoming self-produced album, Errance, set for release on May 17th, 2024. 

Before embarking on his solo project, Gabriel has boasted a prolific career as a producer and composer across various industries. From producing internationally-acclaimed records for several artists such as Daniela Andrade, MayFly and Geoffroy (just to name a few), to composing soundtracks for a number of series and short movies, to working on international campaigns advertising for brands like Yves Saint-Laurent, Crown Royal and Louis Vuitton, this sonic savant is no novice to the world of music production in all of its forms. He also shares a close musical relationship and music house with Hologramme.

Hailing from Montréal and currently based in Orford, Canada, Gabriel began exploring sounds and beats on his father's Yamaha PSR-32 synthesizer at a young age. At 22, Gabriel stepped into the world of audio experimentation, securing a role as a studio assistant. Collaborating with various artists, he honed his skills in the service of others. Despite his deep love for music production, arranging compositions, and crafting sonic landscapes - however, it wasn't until later in life, when a period of enforced pause granted him the opportunity to experiment, that he began to make space for his own musical expression. As Errance, he delivers a sound inspired by the likes of Floating Points, Mount Kimbie, Max Cooper and Jon Hopkins.

‘Idyll’ is a departure from the deep echoey resonance of its predecessor, showcasing Errance’s versatility as a producer. While ‘Guidance’ was a slow, shuffling piece of organic house with a bouncy four-on-the-floor beat, ‘Idyll’ is a light, gentle, progressive track, carried by a breakbeat that gently ebbs and flows but never drops dramatically when the bass enters the fray. Still teeming with Errance’s signature organic feel, resonant and echoey ambient elements dance quietly around the pulsing breakbeat, breathing in and out of Errance’s intricate instrumental arrangement.

Errance divulged: “This song is an ode to spring, to reconnection, crafted with natural elements and enhanced with analog and electronic processes. It evokes the need to return home, to reconnect with something or someone that was gone for a while.”

Additionally, he co-owns the record labels 303Lovers and Hotfingers with Manuel De La Mare and Luigi Rocca. He brings a wealth of dancefloor knowhow to deliver a killer remix for Mistier.

Back on Stil vor Talent after contributing a banging remix to Oliver Koletzki and Fritz Kalbrenner's 'Heart on Hold' a few months ago, Bulgarian producer Pavel Petrov turns in his debut solo transmission for us, 'Parallel'. Comprised of two cuts that give full vent to his epic-sized vision and monumental buildups, Petrov's newest bridges the gap between frontal sonic assault and a sensorially effervescing sound design. As cascades of pumped up Italo arpeggios and languid pads mingle in a cosmic symphony of sorts, 'Parallel' opens up a portal to some unknown clubbing dimension, where a brooding, near-dystopian atmosphere crosses swords with hypermodern EBM brutalism and grime-informed vox sampling.
