Story
The Prince in the Well. A Bruneian legend.
Many centuries ago, in the heart of the Sultanate of Brunei, where rivers intertwine with the jungle and the sea kisses the shores with reverence, a just but stern sultan ruled. His name was Sultan Hakkim, and his kingdom flourished under his firm hand. He had an only son, Prince Aiman, whose spirit was as free as the wind that stirred the palm trees.
Aiman ​​was rebellious not out of contempt, but out of curiosity. While his father saw tradition as the backbone of the kingdom, the young prince dreamed of exploring beyond known boundaries: crossing the seas, learning from other peoples, and understanding the world not only as an heir, but as a man.
One day, during a royal assembly, the sultan announced that Aiman ​​should marry the daughter of a powerful ally, thus sealing an alliance that would ensure peace. But the prince, his voice trembling but determined, refused.
"Father," he said before the court, "I cannot give my heart as a bargaining chip. My loyalty to the kingdom is unwavering, but my soul compels me to choose my own path."
The sultan, wounded in his pride and fearing that the prince's disobedience would undermine royal authority, accused him of betraying his filial duty. In a burst of anger and grief, he decreed an exemplary punishment: Aiman ​​would be thrown into the Well of Shadows, an ancient sacred well within the confines of the palace, where it was said not even an echo returned.
On the night of the punishment, under a moon veiled by gray clouds, the guards led the prince to the well. There were no tears in his eyes, only a profound sadness. Before being pushed, he looked at his father and whispered:
"Let my silence speak louder than my voice."
And he fell.
But the well did not devour his life. According to the elders, the waters at the bottom were not of death, but of purification. There, in the darkness, Aiman ​​reflected for days. He did not blame his father; he understood that the weight of the throne clouded the heart. And in that isolation, he found a truth: freedom without responsibility is chaos, and duty without compassion is tyranny.
Weeks passed. The sultan, consumed by remorse, began to hear rumors: as night fell, a soft melody could be heard from the well, as if the wind were singing with the prince's voice. Some swore they saw a faint light within, and others said the well's water healed the afflicted.
One early morning, the sultan, dressed as a simple peasant, approached the well. There, amid the mist, he heard clearly:
"Father... I did not come to challenge you, but to understand you."
The sultan fell to his knees. He wept for the first time since he was a child. And in that moment, he understood that the true legacy was not to impose, but to listen.
He ordered the well to be sealed with stones carved by his own hands, not as a prison, but as a sanctuary. On them, he had the following inscription written: "Here lies the voice of the one who chose to remain silent so that others might speak."
Since then, it is said that Aiman's spirit inhabits the well. Not as a ghost of vengeance, but as a silent guardian whispering to those who pass by:
“Respect is not blind obedience. Love is not possession. And reconciliation is born when pride bows before the truth.”
And on full moon nights, if one approaches with a pure heart, one can still hear the echo of a flute… or perhaps, just the wind reminding one of a lesson Brunei has never forgotten.

فردین خلعتبری متولد ۱۳۴۳ در شهرستان نوشهر است. وی موسیقی را با ساز فلوت آغاز کرد و بعد از انصراف از رشته سازه دانشگاه صنعتی شریف به سراغ موسیقی رفت و در دانشکده هنرهای زیبا تحصیلات خود را در زمینه موسیقی ادامه داد.[۱]
اولین کار او ساخت موسیقی تئاتر «گرگ گرگم» به کارگردانی مسلم قاسمی در سال ۱۳۶۴بود. او تاکنون موسیقی چند فیلم سینمایی و سریال تلویزیونی را ساخته که از میان آنها می‌توان به ترکش‌های صلح، هم نفس، گل یخ، اتوبوس شب، زمان می‌ایستد، زمانه و... اشاره کرد.

درها بسته

و کلیدشان در تاریکی دور شد.

نسیم از دیوارها می‌تراود:

گل‌های قالی می‌لرزد.

ابرها در افق رنگارنگ پرده پر می‌زنند.

باران ستاره اتاقت را پر کرد

و تو در تاریکی گم شده‌ای

انسان مه آلود!

پاهای صندلی کهنه ات در پاشویه فرو رفته.

درخت بید از خاک بسترت روییده

و خود را در حوض کاشی می‌جوید.

تصویری به شاخه بید آویخته:

کودکی که چشمانش خاموشی ترا دارد،

گویی ترا می‌نگرد

و تو از میان هزاران نقش تهی

گویی مرا می‌نگری

انسان مه آلود!

ترا در همه شب‌های تنهایی

توی همه شیشه‌ها دیده‌ام.

مادر مرا می‌ترساند:

لولو پشت شیشه‌هاست!

و من توی شیشه‌ها ترا می‌دیدم.

لولوی سرگردان!

پیش آ،

بیا در سایه‌هامان بخزیم .

درها بسته

و کلیدشان در تاریکی دور شد.

بگذار پنجره را به رویت بگشایم.

انسان مه آلود از روی حوض کاشی گذشت

و گریان سویم پرید.

شیشه پنجره شکست و فرو ریخت:

لولوی شیشه‌ها

شیشه عمرش شکسته بود.
