Exclusive: Omar Joesoef - Chants Of Gorontalo (Cosmo Vitelli What Was The Question Again Remix)

Hard Fist's next release explores the chants and rituals of one of the world's last tribes living or holding on to ancient occurrences. Therefore Indonasian artist Omar Joesoef digged deep into the archieves of abandoned radio station on Java island to come up with samples of old recordings of the tribe. Unsurprisingly Joesoef names the EP's opening track, Chants of Gorontalo, after an Indonesian province on Sulawesi island, where the Dayak tribes lives and practices the ancient and traditional way of living. Aside from three more orginal tracks, namely Morning World, It's the Heat in the Room and a digital bonus track, Joesoef's Rituals of Gorontalo EP is provided with two remixes. While Jonathan Kusumu reworks It's the Heat in the Room, French hyper-spacey artist Cosmo Vitelli takes on remix duties for Chants of Gorontalo and turns it into a futuristic out of space tune that's implementation of racecar sounds, space-filling soundscapes whirl around and stir up elements from the original. However, it's the pads and synth-sequences in the second part of the eight minute lasting journey that serves as a counterpart to the spiritual didgeridoo-like sounds that accompany the listener from start to the very end.

She knew a thing or two about suffering; in fact she could probably write a whole book about it. All the cliches had been thrown her way: 'every cloud has a silver lining', 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger', 'when one door closes, another door opens' and so on... She'd learnt to smile and nod, rather than retort with sarcasm. That said, with each strike or set back there had always been an evaluation, a lesson or a coping mechanism she'd take away and apply to the next situation.

As a way of connecting cities and artists during lockdown, Offenbach's Live At Robert Johnson and Leipzig’s Riotvan have joined forces for a new collaborative release, 'PLAYRVN001'. Made up of five tracks that link up two artists, the EP gives us a window into the sonic foundations of each imprint and the synergy between them both. Collaborations come from Roman Flügel & Rebolledo, Jennifer Touch & Chinaski, New Hook and Perel, Fort Romeau & Panthera Krause and Horkheimer & Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht, spanning everything from synth pop to cosmic disco, breakbeat and Italo.

M.A.G.A. supporters are dumb and stupid, that’s the simple and plain truth. M.I.D.G.A. fans, in turn, are people with outstanding musical taste and tend to be open-minded and fun to be around, especially on a packed and sweaty dance floor.

In case you are still not familiar with the latter acronym, M.I.D.G.A. stands for “Make Italo Disco Great Again”, the result of the out-of-the-box collaboration between Parisian label Cracki and Hong Kong-based imprint Fauve Records. For the fourth volume of their acclaimed compilation series, none other than Mystery Affair (SXDNS202), Shubostar (SXDNS042), Sara Miller, COLE, Maltitz, and Romain FX jumped in with the best of their respective games and delivered their vision of how modern Italo-Disco-infused cuts must sound.

Premiered here, Sara Miller’s contribution to the gala comes soaked in bliss and good mood brought about by the magic concoction of a bouncing bassline topped with frolic synth layers and upbeat leads. After well-received appearances on Permanent Vacation and Live At Robert Johnson, the respected Berlin-based Irish producer held no punches for her beautiful debut on Cracki/Fauve. Kudos!

The new not-for-profit label will pledge the profits from each release to a hand-picked charity and kicks off with a fresh single from Leonor, featuring remixes from Curses and Sascha Funke.Profits from the first release will be benefiting The International Elephant Foundation, an NGO which focuses on protecting the severely endangered Asian elephant and the threatened African elephant. They support programs that protect elephants, habitat, and the villagers that live with elephants in their “backyards” by reducing human-elephant conflict.The artist behind the single is Leonor, a DJ and producer from Guadalajara, Mexico who now resides in France. An upcoming star, he has released on Nein Records, Toolroom, and Tom Tom Disco while charting in top positions on Beatport and Juno. He is rapidly making a real impact on the scene and in heavy demand as both dj and producer.His fantastic single here is an organic and inventive track littered with the sound of jungle wildlife, indigenous percussion and vocal chants and loose house drums. Big claps and raw loops help build the pressure making for a sure-fire bomb that will detonate any floor.First remixer is Curses, the New Yorker based in Berlin, known for blending rock & roll with the darker side of disco on labels such as Bordello A Parigi, Throne Of Blood, and Ombra International. The Rinse FM France resident brings all that to his haunting, chugging, macho disco remix, which has slapping hits and low slung bass all making you move.Then comes Sacha Funke, an experienced artist with credits for his deep, graceful sounds on the likes of Kompakt, BPitch Control and Turbo. Here he reworks ‘King of Elephants in the Sequence’ into a flailing and unhinged house track with a giant rasping bassline and trippy synth details. It’s one to shake things up and bring real colour and freakiness to the club.This is a fantastic package not only in musical terms, but also because of the charitable intentions behind it.

Moustache Records welcomes Senor Chugger to the label family! His debut EP 'One More Tune & One More Pint' (yes come on let's have it!!) aims to encompass the euphoric feeling of being on a dance floor with nothing but your mates and some good music (and pints). Honestly I'd be happy if that's what's awaiting me in the afterlife. 'Press the Flesh' is the head of our proverbial euphoric snake, making no promises other than you'll have a bloody good time listening to it. 'Midnight Scooter Cruise' is about those last few moments before the lights come on; feeling genuinely happy to have been able to live in the present for more than a few seconds throughout the night and have a laugh - followed by thoughts such as 'Goodness me I'm going to feel horrific tomorrow'. Flipping over to the B side (or the snake's ass, if you will), we have 2 tracks competing for the loudest snare award. 'Head in the Clouds of Smoke' is a nod towards the great times had in the peak of the midday sun at festivals, where otherwise non-smokers inexplicably decide to chuff their way through a 20 pack. Last, but by no means least, 'Newton Abbot Reunion' is about going back home to see old friends - one of the more wholesome hangovers I'm sure you can relate to. Overall this EP wants you to keep on dancing - there will always be one more tune, and one more pint (unless you've had too many in which case don't do that). 'Very very good EP. Possibly the best I've heard this year.' - Count van Delicious 'Will you stop making your Italy disco or whatever it's called and take the dog for a walk please' - Senor Chugger's mum This is the unknown hit everybody is looking for played by Moustache Labelboss David Vunk at numberous parties, club and festivals!!!!
