#Assertive Intro

Tall, athletic, jovial; are words which best describe the Montego Bay native, Ritson Fairclough.
Most parents direct their children towards the lawyer, doctor professions. Ritson was an outstanding
science student yet his childhood ambition of becoming a gynecologist quickly faded when he opted
to embark on an unpredictable adventure, as music stole the spotlight in his life. The determined
Aries – born April 1st - recorded and released his first official single titled "She Nuh Wah Betta" in
2011, which showcased his catchy lyrics and infectious melodies.
Ritson's love for the creative and performing arts was evident very early in his life. The eldest of three,
Ritson was selected to sing on his school choir the moment his teacher recognized his potential,
when he belted out the words of the gospel song “Order My Steps Oh God”. His distinct voice was
noticed and this ignited a confidence boost in the young introvert. The days he spent his leisure time
drawing, eventually became very few as he shuffled more into music and acting. Ritson began
entering a number of talent competitions including the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission
(JCDC) - festivals of the performing arts and was awarded third place, three consecutive years.
Ritson's drive to become a bonafide entertainer lead to the release of several singles such as "Nah
Laugh", "Crocodile Tears", "Wah Duh Dem Man Yah Jah", but "Prison Life" received exceptional airplay
in Canada, New York and Antigua. It was, however, in 2016, when the former rugby player of the
Green-Pond High School, signalled that he was indeed capable of making a notable mark in this fast
paced, competitive arena. His independently produced song entitled "Give Away (Bad To The Bone)",
left tongues wagging in parts of North America and was unexpectedly featured in a television
advertisement in Mexico. This exposure marked the birth of the Ritson Records Production Label.
Ritson teamed up with well known Jamaican producer and CEO of RAF Production, Okeino "Kyng"
Fenton, and a collaborative effort brought forth the artiste’s first studio album - #DIGNITY - for release
in July 2018 with global distribution by one of the largest independent distributors of urban music, 21st
Hapilos Digital Distribution. Songs featured on the album include "Different", "Pray Fi Dem", "Gotta
Make It", to name a few. Filled with enthusiasm, Ritson describes his music as "the soothing type that
projects positive vibration and speaks volume on reality. People can enjoy my music when they are
happy or when they need motivation."
Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Luther Vandross, Sam Cooke, Elephant Man, Lexxus and Ghost were
some of Ritson’s influences, as he grew up listening to them with his uncle.
A keyboardist and songwriter, Ritson noted that he embraces the opportunity to work with other
writers as well. "I'm cool working with other writers and I love challenging myself by free-styling my
songs in studio, allowing the lyrics to flow from my thoughts naturally."
The multi-talented Ritson studied at the Herbert Morrison Technical High School sixth form and has
dabbled in media presenting. He was a co-host for six months on an internet radio show called "Truth
Be Told", tackling issues on relationship, politics and lifestyle. The program was aired on the Talk
Jamaica Online Radio (currently re-named One Link Radio). Laying the groundwork for a dynamic
musical career is however, his main focus.
Ritson is unstoppable and is here to make his stamp on the worldwide horizon through his musical
versatility and originality.
