One of Bob Dylan's best songs, in my opinion. If I recall correctly, this is probably one of the first songs I set out to learn how to play and sing. That was almost 10 years ago, and the feeling it brings with it won't ever change.  He sure can capture the feeling of yearning so perfectly with his lyrics. I remember having an acquaintance that 'hated Bob Dylan' because he 'can't write a good song.' That bitch can try to suck a basketball thru a garden hose for all I care.

I grew up listening to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness in the suburbs, after my parents moved the family from Queens NY. I loved the record, and always wondered what the narrative behind this particular song was. It was the 90's and the radio still had variety, and this song got a lot of airplay, with such a strong lyrical narrative. As the years went by, living in the suburbs, I came to see what the lyrics are about, and subliminally, the story became my own, as well as many other friends' whose lives I can see through the lens of this song.
