Morgan Elwy is part of the staple North Wales group, Trwbz. In recent months, he's been putting out some awesome Solo works, and appeared on S4C's Canu Cymru. His track "Bach O Hwne" is a favourite of ours, so we're over the moon to have worked with him on this project, hopefully the first of many collaborations!

Pen Dub feat. Morgan Elwy - Ein Tywysog Ni

Pen Dub's next offering is one to remember, and hopefully just the first in a continuing series that focuses on Welsh heritage and language!
Skanking Sounds' Pen Dub is by far-and-away one of the most notable, up-and-coming Reggae Producers in Wales, and here we see his musings married with a top-notch array of versions, supplied by four, equally talented, Vocalists!

The 'Ivy Crown' comes from the story of Llewelyn the Last. 
Long before Llewelyn, there was a spoken-word prophecy in Wales that one day, a Welsh man would be crowned the King of Britain, in London. After a life spent fighting for the identity and recognition of his people, and enacting a peace agreement with King Edward, Llewelyn was betrayed and soon executed. His head was then placed on a Pike, and his adorned with a Crown made of Poison Ivy, in mockery of the centuries-old Welsh prophecy.
Llewelyn's Head remained on top of the gatehouse of the Tower of London for at least a decade, and he was never given a proper burial.

This is just one example of the oppression faced by Wales that continues, in part, to this day. All the Vocalists have done an incredible job of telling this story, with 3/4 tracks versed in Cymraeg. Some of the lyrics really light a fire inside us, and the release does a good job of turning a story of betrayal in to one that speaks to the power of Welsh Culture, Youth and Identity. Seriously big stuff!

Welsh Dub Alliance is back for its third instalment, which sees some new faces join the roster and an even broader selection of Reggae, Dub and 140 stylings from Producers hailing from all corners of Cymru!
The crew have really pulled out all the stops on this one, and it shows! WDA is gaining a name as a microcosm of contemporary Dub music, displaying the full spectrum of the genre's modern iterations through a constant melee of creative flavours, aiming to firmly cement Wales on the underground music map. Serious respect to all the Producers who continually bring the heat on this series, and to everyone supporting and streaming worldwide! Particular thanks to Adam Walton for the continued airtime on BBC Radio Wales!

One of Wales' leading Reggae producers makes a crucial connection with a UK legend on his new riddim, 'Provider'.

Pen Dub, hailing from Morfa Nefyn, is an incredibly talented instrumentalist with a bright future ahead of him; 'Artillery Riddim' continues his trend of delivering high-energy, clean and quintessential Reggae. The production breathes with European Steppa influences, exhaling rolling harmonic melodies and fabulously rhythmic drums.

Cheshire Cat backs Pen Dub on the title version of the release, 'Provider'. Demonstrating his patented flow in deadly fashion, Cheshire Cat never fails to bring attitude and amplitude in equal measure. 'Provider' is sure to have any dancehall quaking in its boots.
As a Label and Events Team who have worked with both Artists over a number of years, this is an incredibly excited and well-deserved development in the Pen Dub Collection for all involved!
