The Winter solstice is here. Harrop, BC's very own Howl is acutely aware of that magic flowing through all things, even in the coldest of seasons - she works with it, every day, both within the world of music and beyond it. Howl - Guestmix for Åbysmal Ẹntities

As the Honey & Bass Sessions return from a slight hiatus, it was only right to bring in one of my favourite DJs to land on my radar for a while. Nestled in the mountains of Alberta, Canada, Marissa aka Howl is not only an appreciated supporter of the blog but also a talented selector herself. From becoming one of the pillars in her local scene to recently opening for king of the Wave Sorsari, it's a great pleasure to have her on board! 
Howl brings a bumper 80 minutes of eclectic bass music. Journeying through both light and dark areas of Dubstep, to areas of Wave and Grime, we're taken on a roller coaster of emotions that at times become rather hypnotic. In the still silence and darkness of the night is Howl. As the moon rises, attuned to the shifting subtleties of the shadows her ritual begins. Like the rise and fall of the tides Howl will pull you into the depth and gravity of sound, initiating you on a journey beneath the stars until the first glimmer of light appears, carrying the hopes and dreams of a new dawn. Howl is a sound system Sorceress, alchemizing lush ambient soundscapes, hauntingly beautiful vocals, and expansive synth swells with a variety of bone rattling bass music. Drawing inspiration from dreamy dnb, future garage and wave, down to the darker depths of hard hitting grime and dubstep, she conjures sets anywhere from 50 - 170 bpm.
