‚Sztuka Znikania’ is yet another invitation to join TAMTEN on his journey through time & space. The second single could serve as a portal to the quirky world of ‘Wschodnia Fala: Reimagined Vision of Eastern-European Wave Music’.  The form of the album meant to resemble the structure of a movie, like a soundtrack to a film that you play in the theatre of your mind, with a little bendings of tape affects your perception of the spectacle, altering it and making it feel a bit different with each time. It’s a coming-of-age like story with the protagonist getting more emotionally mature, while going back in time to learn more about mistakes that could have been made to make them feel something.


The title is a reference to the polish documentary movie called ‚The Art Of Disappearing’. The way that its director described his work practice during the shooting of that film and some general theoretical approach seemed relatable to TAMTEN while he was working on ‚Wschodnia Fala’.

The release contains the special radio edit version of the title track. This time around TAMTEN also brought the ALL-STAR producer team proudly representing the broad spectrum of contemporary polish wave music, that we tried to define with this whole album concept. It took the involvement of the true pearls of the Baltic sea - Jazxing, Breslau-based, Superkasety head honcho, with PhD in hauntology - Dj Duch and Warsaw-based veteran Polotronic to work-out the most danceable versions of the track. 

Pick your favourite, take all of them. Embrace the eastern-wave.

‘London. Detroit. Birmingham. New York.’ So declared the cover of TronikHouse’s classic ‘Hardcore Techno’ EP back in 1991, a nod to these musical powerhouses. Still flying the flag for West Midlands futurism in 2025 is Rawtrachs, aka Brum’s own Anand Patel. 

A prolific music maker, both solo and as part of Made2Faze and We Kill Culture, he runs his own labels Futurepast Zine (which sprang from a physical zine of the same name) and Alternative Architecture, and has appeared on the likes of WNCL Recordings, Defrostatica and Sydonia.

His ‘Machine Room’ EP unveils the workings of his sound, Detroit’s techno soul filtered through industrial-strength broken beats and tech-step’s sci-fi dystopianism. 

‘Fail We May’ is deep, dubby and drummy, a melancholic moment of reverie whose title echoes part of the phrase that defined Andy Weatherall. Label bosses Escape Earth (aka BufoBufo and Joe Nonlocal) then remix it, injecting a current of euphoria as breakbeats and bubbling acid lift it into sweatier realms.

‘Machine Room (PST Basement Mix)’ channels the spirit of hardcore and d&b into heavy duty bruk, its Reese-style bassline nodding to Saunderson as the beats recall the abstract rhythms of Nubian Minds. And closer ‘Not So Great Expectations’ is another hulking presence, relentlessly weighty sub and drums marching through a ghostly realm.

Breaka usually runs in very different circles, producing footwork, juke and DnB from his home in Leeds. These are the first tunes of his at a slower tempo to be released but you can certainly hear those influences loud and clear in these certified UK 125-130bpm bangers.

Taking their name from the neighbouring family of galaxies that contains the Milky Way, London duo Local Group may sound parochial but unleash cosmic scale energies on their debut 12”.

Inspired by their sets at UK festival Field Maneuvers, the 'dirty little rave' that the duo are residents at (playing alongside the likes of Mark Archer and Storm), title track 'Laser Dome' distills their unashamed love of hardcore's E fuelled rush into a haze of piano euphoria. Underground electro hero Dexorcist remixes it for the 140bpm crew, a rude bouncing bassline and hyper breakbeats keeping its continuum credentials in check.

On the flip 'Random Utterances' nods to the slower, darker, proggier breakbeat favoured by Tyrant at the start of the new millennium, bubbling acid bass, arpeggios, moody strings and '80s synth pop combining with interludes of lucid drug philosophising and distorted 808 bass. 'Rampage' signs off with a potent dose of pure jump up energy, a 150bpm Reese bassline tear out, complete with MC hype, drawing on the pair's love of jungle.
