Following from two high profile releases from Flava D and Killjoy featuring D Double E, Formula looks to its founder to progress the year into uncharted territory, and Champion delivers in abundance.

‘Arcade’ is the tune that’s got a range of selectors in a spin, as Champion toys with retro-gaming samples and stuttering, treated drums to create a disorientating ride through the grime/bass platform game in every raver’s mind. A hybrid of influences abound on a track that’s sits as happily in a Hessle set as it does being ridden by high calibre MCs like Jammz. Currently receiving support from Ben UFO and Four Tet – level up!

We’re on more familiar ground with the rattling kick drum and heart-stopping bass squelches present in ‘Chrome’, a track that’s been doing the rounds in Champion’s sets for a minute. Inventive as ever, this is a swung half time riddim with all the producer’s intricate attention to detail, building a hard hitting drum track from the ground up and going ham on the skank-out subs. And as for that second drop? Just wait and see what that does to a dance.

‘Arcade / Chrome’ will be available on MP3 and WAV download from 3rd June 2016.

After two years of hiatus Ritual Process is back with a brand new opus. Côme the other half of the label first appeared in 2011, thriving on the musical radicalism and avant-garde of the electronic and industrial scenes of the 80/90’s. 

Kerri LeBon, an artist, designer and DJ based in San Francisco, California, is resident and host of Discipline, an intimate night of individualist electronics. In productions and remixes, she fuses vocals to ardent, rhythmic experiments. Her DJ mixes have frequently featured digitally, as well as through physical release via Jealous God. 

Our third EP "Years of Decline" opens with "Between Generation", an epic trippy track followed by the punchy noisy "Expel the Demon". The B side will take you to a shadowy world with the original version of "Fear" followed by Kerri LeBon’s astonishing remix.

"Quadra" is a Lowfish track produced around 1996 and released in 2010 on "Memories Are Uncertain Friends" (Suction Records SUCTION021)

I named it "Quadra" – no shame in it – as I was in Autechre-inspired mode and as such, all things needed to be slathered in Alesis Quadraverb. 

Gear nerd details = this is mostly samples from a Roland S-750 sampler + TR-808 and a Moog Prodigy borrowed from Solvent, all sequenced by a newly acquired Alesis MMT-8.

To celebrate 808 day, episode 37 presents this excellent electro mix from Nathan Buller.

Nathan was a monthly regular at the legendary Haywire sessions in Leeds, back in the late 90s. 

As well as other locations in the UK, the Leeds Haywire sessions were started by Amanda Burton and Fraser Brysdon. With the late and utterly missed Andrew Weatheall, and SCSI-AV Records founder, Daz Quayle as residents. Not to mention regular guests on the cutting edge of electro music.

Nathan is a superb DJ and knows his onions, believe!
