In a wide ranging discussion RightShip, head of EMEA, Andrew Roberts explains the tragic background that led to the founding of RightShip and how the company has developed from a vetting organisation to one that focusses on providing shipowners with the means to reach zero harm through fact-based ESG goals. To achieve this aim, Mr Roberts explains how a holistic ESG vision is going to be embodied into all the RightShip products, decisions and thought processes. “RightShip will work towards bringing ESG from a voluntary to a must-have in the maritime sector,” he said. 

The discussion includes how RightShip developing its proprietary greenhouse gas (GHG) rating tool and carbon accounting platform and the why the organisation has developed the Crew Welfare Self-Assessment programme with other concerned organisations. Mr Roberts touches on the “wicked problem” of the implementation of new fuels in the shipping industry.
