Born in the South side of London, Kdeem started his musical journey in the ATL where he grew up as a young teenager. Forming together a music collective and releasing several EP’s independently, Kdeem offers a Lo-Fi Trap album produced by the Canadian producer Alphonse Funz. With this being the first instalment, the concepts and themes all flung together in these series of projects will have been influenced by memories and experiences dating all the way back to 2011 when he moved across the ocean. 

The Stardust Cafè is a 14 track journey through the mind of Kdeem as a Driftter and is set for release on 17th February. The Trap patterns and flows are all representation of the mood whilst intoxicated. From the intro, “Fear” highlights that this is the start of a wonderful journey in which fear cannot be a factor. Mixed with a few interludes, the softer side of Kdeem can be heard on tracks like “Alan” and “Lucy” where women and intoxication play a huge role. The lead single “Halloween in December” is a track unlike many others on the project in that Kdeem is able to “flex” and “empower at the same time”, with catchy and gritty punchlines, chanting “young ni***s, we royalty”. “Halloween in December” also has an element of poetry around it, speaking harshly on the mind states of many young black males in the city. With untraditional visuals shot also in south London, this song is a statement that Kdeem intends to be heard with this first installment for “The Stardust Cafe”.

With “Halloween in December” establishing the sound of Kdeem’s new project, the south London rapper teams up with Rizzy2Flyy for another fun, yet inspirational song on “Eugene Delacroix”. This tune paints the picture of a late night inspired by creatives that are totally in control of what happens to them. Almost boastfully, Kdeem shows that he knows how to turn-up but reminds people what he stands for with his melodic chorus.

The Stardust Café is the space in which Kdeem can bring together every part of his life and share them through various toned projects. The leader of the Driftters Music collective suggests that there could be up to 7 projects emphasizing the different angles stories can be told from. With inspiration from Iman Omari to Kendrick Lamar to King Krule, the cocktail of styles using heavy 808’s and eerie, mellow samples, “The a Ring, Whilst Intoxicated” represents just that on this record. An astronaut, floating through space and time, intoxicated.
