Never Give Up (2017)

The Fifth Story was award-winning singer, songwriter, producer RJ Benjamin’s 13-track studio album released in 2017. Now, in 2018, he’s releasing a fresh reworking of one of his favourite tracks off the album - ‘All Tied Up’. Originally featuring the multiple award-winning rapper Emtee, the single edition now adds SAMA-nominated jazz vocalist Zoë Modiga to the mix.

RJ felt the need to reinvigorate the song and realised that his falsetto vocals would be complimented with the addition of a female vocalist. It needed someone fresh and the name that immediately sprung to mind was that of Zoë Modiga – who he’d gotten to know through her rise on The Voice SA Season 1 where he was a vocal coach.  Her own album ‘Yellow: The Novel’ was also foremost in his mind. 

The resulting updated, single edition of ‘All Tied Up’ is at once timely and classic. It blends newer elements of trap and hip-hop, showcases Emtee’s versatility in merging with RJ’s style and exhibits Zoë’s jazzy female vocals.
